Bro if you are talking about yourself you are worried about the wrong thing@V Skyye what if a man is 40 years old and has never been married or had kids but has a girlfriend he lives with for the past 7 years. Would that person also be considered a red flag and not be taken seriously?

Management, yes…co-workers, nah…@Magic Mulatto for your current job or most of your coworkers and the management they’re married with kids??
Too many factors too even ask the question. Even if that was the case, is man supposed to getting married to check that box?No Im not talking about myself I've never been in a relationship before
This is such subjective bullshytMakes sense. Married men are seen as more stable, more likely to stick around. Less likely to take unnecessary risks.

It depends on the individual. But a wife seems more stable. If a man has a woman managing home affairs he can commit more to work. He can come early, stay late, and do whatever the job demands. Girlfriends typically are not handling home business in the same manner as a wife.@V Skyye what if a man is 40 years old and has never been married or had kids but has a girlfriend he lives with for the past 7 years. You're taken more seriously as married than not I've found.Brehs/Brehettes is this true when it comes to your career, and getting invited into important spaces with management, owners, etc. Has not being married stopped you from elevating in your career field?
I've heard this a thousand times, seems like folklore at this point, but I'm 50/50 on this![]()
Depends on the culture of the department. A married man or woman is every bit as likely to bounce as a single person is. Moreover, a single person with no kids will be more likely to grind and put in extra hours voluntarily or not use sick days or all vacation days. People will use more time off or be less focused since their kids or spouse will be on their mind. All it takes is a phone call from the school or daycare to fukk up the whole work day.
Great question/idea
I subconsciously thought that not being married affected my salary somewhat. I can’t speak for others, but it’s almost like not being married with kids kinda made companies think they could lowball me at times. If I was married with kids, maybe they think i would want more and try more to play the game.
How would you know he’s a “good” family man? What is your definition? It's more to do with married people sticking with the company.
Just from what I have observed, a married man is more likely to lick his wounds and try again if he doesn't get the promotion he wants. Unmarried men are more willing to look elsewhere.
People being more willing to settle down once their career is in a good place is also factor.
It might play some role still. I'm more likely to trust a good family man and I'm sure others feel the same way.
