We need basic income checks to give everyone a middle class income standard of living as well as embracing small businesses.
There will be no such thing as middle class in 2050. You will have the haves and the have nots. Small businesses? Doing what because robots will be handling a lot of things and humans will not be needed.

I know, my assumption is firmly rooted in classic Economic theory, as well as contemporary interpretations by Charles C. Mann, Joyce Appleby, Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson.
The benefits of paid-labour with social allowances far exceed that of unpaid labour, which limits capitalism through the chattelhood of the worker, creates an underclass that in effect drags down the economy, eliminates the potential for billions in personal economy, and when abolished creates a black hole in the economy (same with a lot of Latin America and South America post-slavery).
Just like how upping the education of an already high-school educated workforce can add trillions over a lifetime, the same is true of allowing an entire people their own volition.
And this completely ignores the potential Africa as a whole had, had they been introduced to Western tech through trade as opposed to through colonialism and slavery.
you do realize you're preaching to the choir. i made that point about slavery talking to those that champion the US version of capitalism that they SEE as have working out extremely well. for them, slavery helped a ton. but that was just to show you, slavery gave a turbo boost to capitalism. now to your point even with that boost over a long period of time it will have shown it hurt your more than it helped. but for a quick fix(quick being a few hundred years). it was all gravy for a lot of folks. then it became less gravy for most people and its only gravy for a select few.

People either don't know, don't show, or don't care about what's gonna happen to the economy by 2050.

Robots b

Tech/Robots/Automation will change American society in 30 years. A lot of these jobs will not be around in 2046 :francis: Just look at how people shop now compared to 1996. A lot of people hardly go into a store unless it's something urgent. And these online stores bout to nip that in the bud. These fools gonna have instant delivery one day.

People who would be stocking shelves at Walmart or picking up and dropping off rental cars will be living in public housing and getting a lil check to buy the bare minimum. The police state will keep them in order. Cameras will be on every corner, no crime will go unseen. Your phones will be monitored.

They are easing us in with all these kiosks. Lowkey, when I talk to someone on that online chat feature on websites, I have a suspicion it's AI sometimes and not a real person :jbhmm:

To thrive in 2050...

1. Learn how to work with robots/tech
2. Be a creative. There are things a human mind can still do that robots can't.
3. Become the top 5% in whatever field you are in. The Internet is killing every industry. The best employees can be contracted remotely. It's already happening today. Why hire you when I can hire the best online, no matter where he lives.

Everyone else will be at the bottom, in rags...looking like the Hunger Games
another one of you preaching to the choir. but thats by 2050, . by 2050, i'll be out of the game... hopefully.

Dollar hegemony is gonna last another couple decades

but its slowly withering away

The US isn't gonna change until we have another Depression

We're in the midst of it.

Look back at history and realize that all the phrases we have to describe those periods in time (WW1&2, Great Depression etc.) didn't exist until after the time had passed. Hindsight is 20/20. There's a very good chance that what will be known as WW3 has already begun as well.

America is a great place if you're really skilled and talented in a niche area. If you're just an average working stiff, you're basically one medical problem or paycheck away from financial disaster.

The 50s-80's was a fluke in history where just anyone could work a menial job and make a great wage. Today we're back to the way things always were before that. It's even getting to the point where a self-proclaimed socialist presidential candidate is getting some serious attention

The 50s-80s (really ended at the 70s) was never meant to be a fluke. It was just wages were keeping up with inflation.

Because of the "trickle down theorem" (the biggest load of economic scam in the 20th century) it officially began the wholesale robbery of the American people

The rate of goods have gone up while the wage rate has gone down.

15 dollars for minimum wage is what SHOULD be the going rate in a balanced economy but the elites are trying to have none of that.

This past recession did alot damage to the middle class that is still struggling to hold on. College debt is rising and that bubble will burst. Middle class wages are stagnating and you have city and state govt that are running record deficits and struggling to pay out pensions. Detroit and Puerto Rico basically show what is the future of most American states that have a bloated pension system that is ignored until a crisis occurs. However I think Europe is in worse shape the never ending Euro debt crisis, the Brexit out of the EU in 2017, and add on top of that the refugee crisis I highly doubt the European Union will exist in 10 years.

got a call for three nines
Lack of infrastructure (no bullet train or domestic jobs that pay people a living wage), wealth gap widening, no worker unions, college debt, hiding the truth, the lack of care of the constant corruption in Wall Street, and extreme cost of living.

You think that it can realistically can be like this 10 years from now? :dame:

Just look at the weak public transportation in most places and the decades of lingering with crumbling public services is :scust:

Why is that people that Want America to be on top, don't want to invest in it or move politically and economically to the left? :jbhmm: As if they want a short cut and undermine the process to reach the goal of a 1st world country.
Do you have any idea how many communists, heathens, and Muslims America killed so that you can wake up Monday morning and drive your lawnmower around your front yard drinking Budwiser before jumping in your SUV and going to work?

We have renewable energy now. They invented an SUV truck in Ghana powered by hydrogen (water). America stopped investing itself since the Reagan Era and we now paying for it. If we did invest in our infrastructure, we would have stopped depending on gas and foreign products as much.

College was once free, but banks put the idea of a tuition in it to profit off of. Paying tuition is a scam.

@88m3 @Atlrocafella you think America can lag behind for another decade?

Not a good feeling, I don't think we're going off the rails but as a small businessmen I'm very concerned about our infrastructure and the over taxation of small business owners.

I'll effectively be retired and overseas by my early thirties though. The world that future generations will live in would largely be unrecognizable by me I imagine.
