Well, I see the term analyst being applied to damn near every job these days. I saw a posting for a customer service analyst on indeed:dead:

But generally, an analyst is gonna be looking at data and making decisions based on what they see. That's a very simplistic definition for it. There are certainly levels to that shyt. Being an analyst can involve forecasting (projecting future numbers) creating models, generating reports, etc...

I was a fraud strategical analyst. I worked for a bank. I would review data from on accounts that we had fraud on and make reports to another part of our fraud strategy team on how to write code on when to block charges. I would have to look at client spending patterns, historical and current fraud trends, high fraud areas, high risk merchants, etc... For instance, I might see a trend with a high percentage of fraud on Apple Pay transactions and relay to our coders to write some shyt that would monitor those charges more strictly. It's much more than that but I'm just giving you a brief overview.

A lot of the analyst jobs are in the financial world and a lot of them involve heavy excel usage, but all don't. I wouldn't say analyst jobs ave high turnovers. I think people are just using the term more for position descriptions. The bank I worked for called our customer service reps analyst:mjlol: when they're not really analyzing anything. I know those positions have high turnover because they are phone jobs.
Thanks for the clarification, u a real one.

Im working in a bank now and its wack mane, i might be making this thread next week

I did it once and it worked out for me. But I had about 10 stacks saved up and moved into a place paying $460 in rent. It took me about 6 weeks to find a temp job making about $20 an hour, and then another couple months before I found a real job making what I was making before.

I wouldn't advise anybody to do it unless they have really planned it out.

I've always wanted to walk out on a job. :lolbron:

I've quit a job before without having anything lined up (with two weeks' notice though); had some money in the bank to last me a few months. Damn near ran the clock out before I found a new one. :whew:

Good luck to you, breh. :salute:

So why you leave your job?

It was a few things. First, I felt that I outgrew the job. I was bored with the shyt. I'm one of those people who is more than capable, but always did poorly in school because I got bored, or it wasn't challenging. I even graduated college with a 2.0:mjlol:

I was moving faster than they were willing to promote me. Then they have this dumb ass rule where you have to be in a position for a year before you can apply out:rudy: That's stunting my growth potential.

Also, I have had a few jobs contact me recently that pay 10-15 racks more than my current position. I started to realize that I was worth more on the open market than I thought. I was undervaluing myself.

All in all, I just hated going to work, was bored with the job, felt as if they were stunting my growth, and that I was underpaid. It was a bunch of other little things too, but those were the main reasons.

Well, I didn't JUST quit it. But this morning, around 10:00 Eastern, I said fukk this shyt. I gave my Access badge to my boss, said this isn't for me, and calmly walked out. My boss and one of the other higher ups looked at me befuddled as hell as I exited stage left. I could faintly hear my boss saying "you don't have to do this" as I made my way towards the elevator:mjlol:

I was looking for other jobs for the last few weeks, so it wasn't totally out the blue, but I definitely didn't plan on leaving this job before I secured another one. Also, I had a interview for a nice financial analyst job last week and I'm waiting to hear back on that, so I wasn't jumping all the way out the window. Nevertheless, I have no idea when my next check will be and where it will be from.

I keep wanting feel remorse or like I mad an irrational decision, but I swear I feel nothing of the sort. The more time I have to analyze this decision, the more I feel that I should have been did this. It was a decent paying job in a good field, but I hated my job and hated going to work. So it's real simple, I quit that bytch. Life is really that simple. We are the ones who complicate it.

I got on Seinfeld late because I always thought it was some white people shyt:ld: but once I gave it a shot, and saw that nikka George, I fell in love (no homo) One of my favorite episodes was when this fool George made a decision to do EVERYTHING the opposite of how he would usually do it. Well, shyt started popping for dude as soon as he started living like that. It's a sitcom, but that episode has a deep meaning for me. It's an ode to bucking the status quo and a reminder of how we can be so scared of the unknown.

Crazy thing is, not even 2 full hours after I quit, I had a call about a compliance analyst job paying $30 an hour. Got a phone interview this week. I also got two emails about jobs. One for a pricing analyst, for which I setup a phone interview for this week. The other one is for some fraud company. I'm sure they will set something up with me. Everyone has different circumstances which plays a part in their decision making, but my advice is to live your life, go with what you feel, and don't worry too much about what's next. Life has a funny way of working itself out. Feel me:yeshrug:
What made you want to quit so badly

Did the same thing when I was 23. Quit my job, went back to school, and after i graduated was making pretty cool money and living comfortable.

Lost my last job though and pretty much had to start from scratch:snoop: I'm working again and while it's not ideal it's full-time and I'm planning to go back to school for my English degree.

How did you get that gig?

There's fresh out of college students with great grades in finance and Econ that can't even land that type of job :dwillhuh:

I got a contract job with the bank as a research analyst, The contract ended after only 3 months, but I did good work and my boss loved me. She told me to apply for jobs with the bank and tell her which ones I applied for. She knew the hiring manager for this position and put in a good word for me and I got the job. Doing good work and networking basically.

Sound Reasoning
Hats off to OP :salute:

If I had 6-12 months of income saved up, I'd do the same thing. Probably even get rid of my car because I use it mostly to drive to and from work :yeshrug:

This is one of the reasons I want to have my life the way I want it before I get married and have kids. I don't want to be stuck in the rut of doing things I don't want to do and staying in jobs I don't want because I have a wife, kids and a mortgage. That's a slow death, and I see alot of people dying slow everyday.

Peace

Congrats!!! I think not having a job is like when you get into a relationship. All of a sudden people become interested. Good luck in finding a new position! And just know there are several ways to make money (legally) that you shouldn't feel forced to work a job you don't like. Never be afraid.
