Ok so u full of shyt

This nikka is actually trying to play down CrazySexyCool:laff::laff::laff:

Next thing u know, this clown nikka gonna say Babyface, Jermaine Dupri, and Dallas Austin (who all produced on the album) ain't shyt haha
not at all. Waterfalls is a beautiful track dedicated to the HIV/AIDS victims of that time period and deserves to be memorized in the history of music.

That Prince remake of If I was your girlfriend was ight :ehh:

Babyface is the greatest R&B songwriter of all time along with Dallas Austin. JD is okay

My thing is, Atlanta competing with multiple cities that have contributed to Black Music since the early-mid 20th century is asinine.

That’s why I politely asked Atlanta’s music history prior to 1994 (omitting Kilo Ali and Arrested Development). I can admit I am ignorant on things I know

New York hasn’t been relevant in the mainstream for over 30 years breh? :mjlol:
Not consistently, no.

I can literally run thru Toni Braxton, Usher, TLC, Luda, all trap music, Laface Records, Outkasts, the Dream, countless producers and writers, Sean Garrett, 112, TI, Xscape, Silk, the ATL list is endless beyond those names, and hasn't taken a break for 30 years.

Funny how every once in awhile people try to bring back old Atlanta ongs out the blue like Ghost Town DJ's "My Boo" with that running man challenge or Knuck if you buck that was used for some that Juju on the beat song

Or how art*ts somehow reach back in tho Atlanta history to use Atlanta songs

Like Beyonce did just last yer sampling Kilo Ali

or Snoop sampling Mista

or Travis Scott sampling Goodie Mob

Outkast heavily influencing Kendrick Lamar

Actually lemme stop. I shouldn't argue with bozos:mjlol:
All those acts are within Hip-Hop from the 1990s - 2000s

You yourself are telling me nobody notable outside of the genre of Hip-Hop/R&B before the year 1994 stands the test of time, or even worth a mention

Nobody’s arguing Atlanta’s contributions I’m just bluntly saying they would get smoked by a few cities, even states if we were to include GA — if it was an all out genre versus spanning the 20th Century to now :manny:

Luckily it's just Atlanta and not the entire state of Georgia cuz there's a couple names that have influenced damn near EVERYONE since the 60s including the highest selling artist of all time

Philly
I see y'all saying TLC, Left Eye is from Philly

Gangsta rap was created in Philly

The Neo Soul capital is Philly

Philly Soul is Philly

Philly was the first city that catapulted hip hop into regular rotation on the radio

Rocafella Records took off when Philly propelled the label

Will Smith won the first rap Grammy

Give us our respect

In my mind it goes (in no order)

Detroit - Not just Motown, but also create Techno which eventually evolved into house, EDM and other genres. Not to mention one of the only cities that still sounds unique when it comes to rap/hip-hop.

Memphis - Blues...period.

NYC - The birthplace of rap and jazz arguably the two most important musical genres in the diaspora.

--------------------
All of these cities innovated on genres created by the three above but didn't really create anything new. One could say ATL's invention of trap changed the face of pop music, but ultimately its NYC that should get the credit for rap.

LA
Atlanta
Houston
New Orleans
--------------------
Again, the work their are known for is mostly derivative.

Chicago
Philly

It's shocking with how many black folks is in Alabama that Birmingham/Montgomery are just non-factors when it comes to our artistic culture.
House is from Chicago.

New Orleans is the birthplace of Jazz.

@keon no love for the crib? Lol

The whole world stole its sauce from the city and they continue to do so lol. (Mick jagger and the beetles and all them stole from buddy guy and howling wolf. House basically revolutionized music as a whole.)

Quincy jones
Herbie hancock
Kanye
R kelly
Curtis Mayfield
Twista
Earth wind & fire
Lionel Richie grew up in joliet for a little bit( even though he's really from Alabama)
The Jackson's (I'm reaching but Gary is technically part of the Chicagoland area)
Maurice White of Eart Wind and Fire is actually from Memphis.

However you forgot to add Chaka Khan, Minnie Ripperton, Nat King Cole and Lou Ross to Chicago.
