I can easily counter you by saying “ how does YT attract advertisers without content?” You gotta keep in mind, YouTube isn’t Netflix. They do not create ANY of the content they have. They are merely the middle man. The content creators can start their own site or move to another video streaming service.
None of these new rules effect the bulk of YouTube's most watched content. Music videos, childrens videos, fail/funny videos will continue to thrive and their videos will continue to have ads run on them.

YouTube has never been the only online video service provider and their rules/copyright system has always sucked and YouTube has never given a fukk about them either. The creators could have always bounced but they havent and I doubt they will. They all have patreons setup anyways.

These new rules affect people that were never making money on youtube to begin with.

From what I understand, if youre trying to make money purely through YouTube ads, then you already lost.

Who is YouTube's competition? And I'm pretty sure YouTube isn't scared of some of these people leaving. The creators are more scared than YouTube is
Who was MySpace’s competition? Who was yahoo’s competition? There are countless companies that felt they were too big to fail and lost market share.

Yes you’re right. They could have left a long time ago. But they didn’t because YouTube was the best option available. YouTube is now literally incentivizing them to leave. Why stay there if they can leave and get paid for their own sites all while making and saying whatever they want to. The only power that YouTube has at this point is that it is the “online meeting place” for the content creators and it’s free for patrons. That can easily shift to another site. It’s naive to think otherwise.

Those companies thrived when the internet was still expanding. There was room for competitors to introduce new ideas back then.

YouTube's competition doesn't offer anything much better(except maybe Twitch but that's a niche market) with far smaller userbases. That's why content creators are still sticking around.

A lot of people get paid sponsorship from companies. That’s truly where the money is at.

A lot of people are going to twitch, patreon, dailymotion(probably not as profitable, not sure on this one)..
I know some are going to Facebook and Facebook Live..
But YT is a lot of people’s lifeline..
But at the same time a lot of creators put all their eggs in one basket, instead of just using as a gateway and then hustling to get that sponsored money or creating other avenues of currency like merch, meet ups, etc..
Just posting videos ain’t going to always get you to the money..
As long as google owns youtube, youtube will be fine.

Some of yall don't grasp the numbers and scale we're talking about.

This isn't like tweets.

The sheer infrastructure to provide youtube AROUND THE WORLD is massive.

Yall dont even understand youtube in non-english speaking places...thats where you realize Youtube's rech

Why don’t They realize that their content creators are vastly more important than the advertisers? Nobody goes to YouTube to buy shyt and most people run Adblock anyway. They are opening the door for the content creators to leave or for the competition to create better platforms.

They are legit making it where any company with the money for infrastructure could swoop in and take their spot.

The creators aint going anywhere tho. They're stuck. It takes a lot of effort to create a platform like YouTube that makes it easy to upload videos and attract views. Any legit competitor is gonna come because of eager businessmen... not content creators. It's the same thing with all these people mad at Twitter. Where are you gonna go? I see a movement for other platforms but them shyts are trash.

Who was MySpace’s competition? Who was yahoo’s competition? There are countless companies that felt they were too big to fail and lost market share.

Different day. Obviously a new competitor can come in but we're at a point where you'd have a hard time trying to scale it appropriately to compete with YouTube's brand name. Any new stuff would have to have a different angle. Kind of like how Twitch was about watching people play games live.
