Its not even about which player. I just dont see why not wait til the off-season? Hes a free agent then and you get to keep the picks. We might have two high lottery picks this year and most likely with one of them will be a position that oladipo plays. I would let the draft play out first and then evaluate free agents after that.

Because we must keep Frank Ntrashbin and Kevin Knox at all costs.

Wait what? :dwillhuh:
Macri had a Rockets writer on and they concluded that Knox and the 23 pick would probably get it done if the Rockets decided they wanted to cut costs. (They threw in other players for salary purposes but they didn’t need to. Knox is enough to get it done). I’m just curious on where guys stand. If it’s strictly a cost thing or a “the right cost” thing.

To me, the 23 Mavs pick is worth getting Dipo just to get real playoffs experience now. I think that’s why you don’t wait if you don’t have to. The experience and good will created from a playoff series will do wonders for the future of this team. Look at what it did for Luka, Murray and even Tyler Herro. No matter how well Julius and RJ play this season it won’t mean half as much as if they could do those same things in a playoff series, win or lose. Regardless of how you feel about him, Julius putting up 25, 12 and 6 in a playoff series would even up his trade cost.

Ehh, a late first and a guy that's not in the rotation and has little shot to work his way back in is a small price for a pretty good player in Oladipo. His injury history concerns me but i get them wanting to win games and make the playoffs. Losing begets losing. You can't keep running 20 win teams out there.

Ehhhhhhh I wouldn't be down for that trade. I understand the reasoning behind it, I just don't think the '23 Mavs pick, in a year with a bigger talent pool, is worth it. I don't want to give a first rounder for a guy we can just sign straight up in the offseason. If he was under contract for a few more seasons, that's a different story. And Dipo has been hurt on and off the last couple of seasons (left the game last night with a foot injury).

Playoff experience would be huge for these guys and I'm all for trying to get in, but if we just miss out, I'm cool with that too. Playoff experience did help Luka, Murray and Herro, but what helped them more was being on teams with competent front offices, better coaching and more talented players. We've just built that foundation here. I feel like we're trying to build Rome in a day/season.

yall keep sayin "this is the melo trade" as if thats a bad thing:mjlol:

last time i checked, the melo trade brought us our most successful season and our most successfull stretch since da fukking 90's :mjlol:

the problem wasnt the melo trade, the problem was amare getting hurt and not using the amnesty on him. even with that, we were a 54 win team that made da second round. then we went and got andrea bargani for no reason

and then we signed phil jackson after we had just went on a crazy run to end the season and missed the playoffs by a game. we make the playoffs that year if our starting center doesnt miss 6 weeks.

bottom line is, we probably gave a asset or 2 away extra in da melo trade but we were back on track a year later. da front office fukked up after that.

if bradley beal is avaliable, you go after it. this team isnt even good lol

What would the Knicks have looked like had they been able to keep Wilson, Gallo, picks and just signed Melo outright that summer? At worst, he’d have a longer run of dominance because of the younger talent that fit him perfectly; at best we would have been able to flip them for another piece, maybe Chris Paul even.

that’s not even to mention that Beal will cost way more than Melo did. I think the starting price is 3 unprotected firsts and 2 swaps plus at least 1 good young player.

You’re right the fukked up after the trade in regards to Billups/Amare and the amnesty. Bargnani was also stupid, but it was a non-basketball CAA led decision.

Jamal Murray and Gordon Hayward were taken with picks from the Malo trade. Draft picks matter.
