Lonzo has improved the last couple of years no doubt but i would feel more comfortable giving him a 4 year 60 million dollar deal instead of 4 for 80 or 100 million. Only takes one team to fall in love with a player though to give him that max.

Dude is one-dimensional as fukk. His good games only exist when his 3 point ball is falling. Apart from that he has zero bag. Good 3 point shooter, Good passer, solid defender/rebounder. But he's genuinely a terrible scorer & playmaker.

Anyone team throws the bag at this dude deserves mediocrity.

It’s nothing to throw $20M at a guy to be your lead guard and a third to fourth option most nights the man is 23 and is going to continue to improve he’s years away from his prime.

In the next 1,2 years we’re going to see him play on all three levels more and expand his offensive repertoire and grow more into his body. He gets better every year. He’s also compatible with the pieces the Knicks have.

He can play on and off ball which bodes well with Barrett and Randle. Randle is our main playmaking hub in the half court. He can feed a high flyers like Toppin and Robinson. He can play in line-ups with other guards like Quickley and Rose. We have an elite team defense and that’s really going to bring out his abilities both point of attack and as a help defender. It’s a good place for him to take his game to the next level.

Be honest, this is based on hope rather than expectation. Lonzo deserves credit for becoming a respectable shooter off the catch but I have seen zero signs of this potential skill-set you're describing. It's simply something he's never had in his game. Normally a player that isn't the finished product shows flashes of it over the course of his first couple of years & just needs to polish his game from that point on.

While with Lonzo you're talking about him developing skills he simply hasn't shown throughout the course of his 4 year NBA career. He's a solid player but giving him the bag especially knowing he's playing his best basketball given it's his contract year doesn't seem like a smart move.
