Yes, and it has worked like this before. Back in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, when the system was designed to benefit white working class people the taxes on the wealthy was used to create a middle class. Once black people (and in time brown people) were able to benefit from these programs because the government couldn’t be overtly racist. These taxes and programs were cut. Overtime this has meant there was always a smaller black middle class but the white middle class got gutted too. Cacs have always been good with it because of their hatred of us they are willing to suffer happily.

What we’re seeing in DC now is a push to make black and white people into serfs and indentured servants and once again the majority of white people (and dumb minorities) are ok with it because they think Trump is hurting immigrants and black people.

The reason Mamdani is very existence is angering politicians on both sides is he is going against a 40 year trend of the wealthy being engorged by society and everyone accepting it because they assume black people (and now immigrants) will be starved the most.

No such thing as a self made billionaire. They make their money of exploiting regular folks. Bezos got dude pissing in bottles and working during natural disasters and using his money to crush and union talk so he can keep stealing

Yup; there needs to be a cap on how much billionaires can make because their riches come from the need to constantly grow and profit - which means cutting corners and screwing over workers, paying them as little as possible, and lobbying politicians to keep wages low and cut assistance, which they accomplish by turning poverty into a moral failing so they can trick people into voting for them. If there's a hard limit there's less incentive to do all this, although obviously you then need safeguards to prevent greedy folks from trying to break the system.

Sick of this kind of political extortion by people like Ackman. A 2% increase on income above $1 million doesn't break the bank. It's not even going to change their lifestyles in any meaningful way, but the revenue from those taxes would actually improve the quality of life for the majority of everyday people. These people are just greedy and they need to be broken and brought to heel. Same with any politician that enables their greed.

These nikkas be so myopic and greedy that don't realize that if everyday people can actually have some financial breathing room, they'd be more likely to buy their shyt But they'd rather hoard resources than ever risk the public dollar having more power and influence.

I have no problem with billionaires, but i beleive they should pay their share of taxes.

And if they employ anyone that lives below the poverty line, they should be penalized and forced to pay even more taxes.
Like the reverse of the NBA owners going over the cap. If they go under the cap, they pay penalties

Billionaires should exist, there should just be a 50% tax rate on all individual and corporate income above a certain amount and the elimination of loopholes like multi billionaires borrowing against their assets to avoid taxes and a 50% tax on all assets transferred to offshore trusts.

The stupid part about this kind of pearl clutching is that these are the same people who say NYC has turned into Gotham City, rife with criminals running around on every block.

They haven’t, for one second, thought “hey, maybe if they take this inconsequential amount of money from me, it’ll stop the next person from knocking me over the head for my wallet or harassing me for money outside of my building. What a great idea! ”
