Intrigue around the attendance of Taylor Swift, the second-ever end-of-season game to make it to overtime and rumors of a halftime appearance by Justin Bieber are expected to have driven viewership of the Kansas City Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl victory into record-breaking territory, potentially overtaking last year’s big game as the most-watched Super Bowl ever and creeping toward the broadcast viewership record set by the 1969 moon landing.

Last year's "Kelce Bowl" matchup between the Eagles and Chiefs was the most-watched Super Bowl ever with 115.1 million viewers, followed by the New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks game in 2015 with 114.4 million watchers, the 2022 Rams vs. Bengals game with 112.3 million viewers and the 2014 Seahawks and Broncos matchup that was viewed by 112.2 million people.
The Super Bowl stands to be the culmination of an already record-breaking year for NFL games—matchups during the 2023 regular season drew an average of 17.9 million viewers, Nielsen data shows, a year-over-year increase of 7% and the most since 2015.
The ratings growth continued in the postseason—the 12 playoff games leading up to Sunday's Super Bowl averaged 38.5 million viewers on TV and streaming platforms, the Associated Press reported, an increase of 9% and the most-watched postseason of at least the last 35 years
