Earl's hype nosedived because he went from relatively exciting music (horrorcore or otherwise) to the audio nyquil he makes now. AND THIS IS IGNORING THE FACT THAT I don't think his hype nosedived, he just plateaued. There's a bunch of cacs I know who listen to him and worship him who aren't even into hip hop like that. His fanbase has been enlarged, if anything. You could probably same the same for Joey, too. His fanbase only grew, it just seems like he'd have blown up bigger, when in reality, his hype plateaued.

kid has incredible talent but i'm not a fan of what he does with it. respect cause he's ill but shyt is like rap yngwie malmsteen. could change my mind one day but currently it just doesn't grab my attention. shyt might be meant for more clearheaded people.
true. it's hard to argue between nosedived and plateaued.
though I guess if you're selling wood almost instantly, then it's nosedive.

but they have stylists and marketers that make them look attractive to their respective fanbases.
where is the fanbase for someone like an AFRO? How could they make him look attractive to the people who could be interested? The "young bro" look is what's hot right now (see Wayne, Kendrick, Drake, J Cole, etc). Afro looks kinda old, but in a goofy way.

but we gotta keep it 100. Looks matter SO MUCH in hip hop. Fortunately and unfortunately.They went from provoking discussion in hip-hop circles to cacs who are about "the real hip-hop". They basically traded fanbases, and that cac fanbase is larger than some cats lurking hip-hop forums. And, of course, you'll have some stans. Earl has an army of those, Joey not so much.
From an objective perspective, both Joey and Earl fell off musically. Joey's new album was pretty trash, cookie cutter "golden age sound", and earl's was just whiny bullshyt. Joey's had potential, too. But, it was always a gimmick. Just like the guy in OP is. "Golden age" because you can't be creative enough to come up with your own sound.

What's there to say about the music? He can spit, it's pretty good, but nothing we haven't heard before. Honestly, this whole PSA video on him made him look a little corny, telling me why I should like him and all this shyt. Let his hype grow naturally.
