How many of you work with teens? I can tell you that unfortunately by that point there are those who are pretty much off the deep end. I've had some real psychos on my rosters over the years who went on to do things that didn't surprise me

Eh, I'm not sure if that will work but I think understanding has to be at the forefront of people's thought process when we consider these matters. Stop referring to him as an animal and a piece of shyt when he CLEARLY has issues (understandably if you know even an inkling of black history).

I think I'm too empathetic. The fight was over a stolen helmet visor so I naturally assume his parents or someone had to pay for. If his mom had to struggle or even bytched about the cost of football, then automatically in his mind he's associating his belongings as something he needs to take seriously and "protect". People who don't have much or access too much are generally overprotective of it. Again this is just an assumption.

Not at all. The system is reacting to the culture. Generations of young, black males are raised to explicitly resist the cops. Generations of young, black males are raised to explicitly resist ANY authority. Go fix that and we'll see if these supposed racial biases in the system continue to occur.

He definitely needs therapy, counseling, and treatment if he already hasn't. Who knows if he's received any care at all in his life, but regardless I think he needs to be evaluated just for safety purposes. That act alone makes me fear for the safety of the people around him. I still maintain that prison would only worsen him.

Agreed. I'm from Baltimore. Grew up in the county though. Even there, I remember you had to buy certain things on your own to participate in sports. If someone is touching your stuff, a lesson has to be learned. Nobody (at his school) will steal from him again. But it's probably too late for that.

We dont know if lil homie stole it or not, but we do know that he was beaten in a hyperaggressive fashion. I've seen fights like this before that didnt result in prison time (maybe some counseling and an expulsion). Homie should be charged with something. IDK what tho?

He needs to be put away and charged. I don't think I would charge him as an adult. Id give him the same benefit that other teens get when things like this happen. Call for counseling try to take into account, home situation, raging hormones, possibly steroids and anything else they think of to try and help their kids vs. throw him in the system.

That's what I would do. Even if I pictured my son as the victim...and I'd want to kill him. But that is why people who have biased shouldn't make decisions....
