There are.
The city of ATL is investing in giving people startup funding, accelerators and office space.
The building they're working out of used to be a hotel but is now an event space and office space. Them being close to tech is amazing.
According to their IG the CEO even got invited to the White House.
Theyre making moves out here. Winning that tech crunch competition is massive considering they beat out all that Silicon Valley talent.
Also this highlights what I'm talking about. STEM is massively important. This isn't possible without that work experience and the technical ability to actually create the product. There's nothing wrong with going to work and getting a job... But using that experience is what's needed to get ahead.
And I'm also glad this isn't just another cosmetic product. It's a legit business model for a legit product.
I used to fukk with that WEDA incubator down in the Metropolitan Lofts on RDA right behind the West End MARTA station before they moved to Midtown. For $75 bucks a month I could use their office space, phones and mailing address. shyt paid for itself 100 times over, I could have easily done that shyt from my home office but the fact of having an actual brick and mortar spot to meet potential clients at put me over the top. At that time I was fukking with govt contracting with the city and Fulton County bidding on construction projects. And I had 0 experience in construction, I would just go to pre bid meetings knowing full well I didn't stand a chance of winning the prime bid, but I did know that if I just networked with the big wigs who were going to win them then I had a decent chance of getting a sub contract for a small piece of the action just off the fact that my business was a registered MBE business. They didn't even care about what I didn't know or did know. They just wanted a locally run MBE on the books so they could be straight when it came to those First Source ordinances. And it was easy as hell to go around the hood and find old head cats who knew how to work they hands and all I had to do was bring them on up under me.
And as far as Tech start ups, my homeboy got involved with the Hypepotamus Incubator in Midtown and he has been making some serious moves. He linked up with these Korean cats from Gwinnett there and they working on some apps that I think should do some numbers too.
