I disagree. I think he is trying... That's what makes it sadder.Smh at Revis... no effort
Currently sitting at the 5th overall pick
They're not gonna go any higher than 3rd overall. Cleveland might win 1 game at best and SF is truly awful. Chicago and Jacksonville are poorly coached, so they won't win more than 4 games max.

That's fine. There's no great qb in this draft so as long as we get a decent pick I'm cool
Just don't draft a rb

I'd hate to draft a CB at 5, but it's a huge need. All of ours range from mediocre to bad. Humphrey seems to be the best CB available but the Jets might be gunshy after the last Alabama CB they took high didn't work so well
OL would be a nice safe pick

Not much in the top 5 projections that the Jets benefit from. Maybe Peppers or a top CB, but do you really want to see this team pick another defender in the 1st round? I don't. I'd much rather try to take a play maker like Fournette to give our offense an identity. Forte is on the tail end of his career and Bilal is meh at best. Our O-Line is woeful, but there isn't much 1st round talent at OL in the draft, never mind a top 5 pick. I realize RB isn't going to vault us into a playoff contender with the other glaring holes on the offense, but at least we would have someone to build around. Without a presence at QB and O-Line we aren't going anywhere, but the problem is, neither of those can be addressed top 5. Fournette and either Watson or Kaaya in the 2nd would be a good look to me.
If the Jets draft Fournette I guarantee he would be a disappointment. Mediocre OL, poor QB play... he's set up to fail from jump. All you gotta do is look at Gurley in LA to see how it would go

I don't disagree, but I think we both know Gurley is a very dynamic player if they can get consistent QB/OL play around him. He does OK with subpar line and QB play at times.
I just don't see who in this draft is a #5 pick, without taking another CB, which is a need, but not an area we have done well drafting and would also be a slight reach. Those 2-3 long TD runs for Fournette would be more entertaining and give us something better to cheer for then watching a rookie CB struggle to adapt to life in the NFL. Esp for a team that isn't going anywhere in the short term.
