Yet here you are, associating starting Alex smith with being in purgatory. Alex smith has accomplished more in this league and actually been in the playoffs.

It's one good Fitz game against what was an injured ridden Bill's D and an inept Bills' offense. If this teams goes 2-3 over our first 5 games, and Fitz doesn't play well, he should sit as he basically cost us the playoffs.
Im all for starting the young QB if the roster was cheap as we did 4 years ago. I had no issues with the Geno pick and starting him immediately as we knew Sanchez was horrible. The roster right now is expensive and older...different situation.
