Yeah. It's really a big number for Winters who is now being paid as an elite guard off a small sample size but it's probably the right move if they think his progress is sustainable.

It is a serious question. What did you want done? Create another hole where it wasn't needed just to hoard money you don't want spent? Is this a serious question

They probably didn't at that point. Winters THIS SEASON played his way into this deal. Otherwise you would have complained about Winters getting an extension based off a handful of games. You let other teams overpay for guards. If they wanted Winters back, he should have been locked up last year.
It's not a small sample. He has improved two seasons straight. He was going to get that in the open market.Yeah. It's really a big number for Winters who is now being paid as an elite guard off a small sample size but it's probably the right move if they think his progress is sustainable.

And like I already said, the Jets are gonna wind up having to overpay for the talent they acquire and the talent they keep because right now nobody will take less to join this circus. It's something you have to deal with until this team gets their shyt together.
Who said that? Winters got paid because he played better. Clearly it's not a perfect deal but you're not gonna get that from the guys here or the guys you replace. If the idea is refuse to pay any player here or in free agency, you're not gonna sign anyone and thus, don't be surprised when the team continues to flounder.I wouldn't sign a guard to a second contract period. The roster sucking isnt an excuse to give a friggin guard that much money.

On Aaron Rodgers after the Packers cut himWhere would you like the money to be spent ?

The premium positions right now other than DE aren't gonna have strong financial commitments to them right now.If we're talking about the current roster, locking up Enunwa now probably would have been a good idea.
We got big money locked into two guards. Just a weird allotment of resources for a non premium position.
