Completely done with this console shyt and if it wasn't for Xbox Live I would be completely done years ago. Games can't even run properly and they charging us for add-ons on like some sluts. These PC mods are ridiculous. PC heads what are some good gaming cards for 4K? @Fatboi1 @daze23

Off top I know I have a OC GTX 650 2GB/Processor AMD Black 8150 Overclocked to 4.5 typical memory of 8 GB. I know I will need an entire new setup.

What do I need processor and card wise?

for 4k you gonna wanna get at @Ruck86 , @2gunsup or @Ciggavelli I think those are the only 3 people here running at 4k or have at least done it recently. Most of us running 1440p or 1080p but with higher hz and lower ms times

@daze23 plays at 1440p or 1080p unless im mistaken and @Fatboi1 plays on the same too

for 4k you might want to go SLI route, 4k is still not very cost effective but not nearly as expensive as before and also if you are crazy about FPS it might not be a viable option as well

Get a GTX 970 and a Intel I5-4690K. You'll need to switch your motherboard to something that supports the I5-4690K. That gonna do you good. 1080P/60fps on most games with better visuals than PS4/XB1 for a minute.

Why an i5 and not a 7? Is that 970 better than R9 290? You don't like AMD?

i5-4690k for $240 over i7-6700k for $420 or i7-5820k for $380 (can find it some where for $320 im sure, Frys or Microcenter - its $350 on tiger direct) :jbhmm: ? for longevity the extra $100 invested into the i7s will last him another year or two and of course be way more powerful today.

I7 is for enthusiasts. You don't really need an I7 right now. Hell, theres people with older Intel CPU's still running new games comfortably.
AMD GPU's imo suck. Drivers come out later than Nvidia, and some games seem to run better on Nvidia thanks to certain effects working better on Nvidia.

nvidia seems to update their drivers and has more support than AMD right now.. no one knows what the hell AMD doing actually, they've been acting weird ever since they landed the console deals.

I personally recommend i7 over i5. For an extra $100 you can get a 6 core i7-5820k :noah:

games are now and going forward going to start requiring more especially at higher resolutions

edit: @Leasy at end of day it all comes down to budget and what you are expecting out of your PC. We all have different needs. @Ciggavelli rather play at 60 hz but higher resolution (4k) while I rather play at 1080p but 144hz

all require different set ups, budgets and hardware

4K is unrealistic unless you wanna drop $1500+ on gpus. Stick with 1440p (there really isn't that much of a difference. I know firsthand because I have a 4K tv and 3 1440p monitors)

Get an i7, 16gb ram, nvidia 980ti, a big ssd, and a good psu. Bare in mind you'll need to spend over $1k for this (and that's not including the monitor). It's an investment, but PC gaming done right is :ohlawd:

For that mod? i5 3570K and 970 4GB. Don't expect 60FPS

Edit: Nevermind you're trying to play 4K :ubie:

maybe POTY candidate @Kamikaze Revy can chime in with his POTY candidate knowledge :jbhmm:

should he go with 290x or 970 GTX ? or i5 or i7 and why :jbhmm: drop that POTY knowledge :childplease:

would be odd for a tech forum have someone who knows nothing about technology win POTY :heh:

itd be like a gym forum having a POTY candidate because he copied and pasted threads from bodybuilding.com but didnt actually life himself :jbhmm:
