Man of Steel 2 with Darkseid would be fire. They already did Zod and Doomsday, only logical conclusions left are Darkseid or Brainiac. Maybe find a way to weave in the other elements from the Reign of The Supermen animated movie (Steel, Cyborg Superman specifically)

They're kind of stuck right now. Best case scenario, we get 2 more Cavill appearances as Supes, one in the Black Adam vs Shazam movie as a major player (maybe even trading blows with both instead of just helping Shazam) and then a Darkseid centered movie.

Cause they could try to stretch out a Brainiac movie but like you said that might be trash and CGI as hell with minimal hand to hand fighting. Add to that Mongul is too similar to Darkseid and Doomsday to warrant his own movie while every other villain just feels underwhelming as a threat.
