So this is someone you haven't seen in 5 years and offered to take out for their B-Day. Were you just acquaintances when you knew her? If not, was she ever not a selfish individual? She probably doesn't care enough about you to be polite about using you for a b-day meal. And do you have female friends? You asked if this is what dating women is like, but anybody who has regular contact with women would see they're not all self consumed. Basically, this sounds like an isolated incident to me.

We were goods friends before and have been in contact but just haven't met up. She has always been a bit self involved but never to the point where she could even ask me how I was doing. And yes I do have other females friends. One is the exact opposite of my Saturday lunch mate. My experience with her is probably why I assumed this friend from Saturday would be similar but it was not the case.

I have just never seen anyone do that which is why I wondered was it common.
