IT is a vague umbrella term...you can work in various areas such as:networking, programming, Info Security, Program management the list goes on and on....companies pay big $ for Software Engineers and Information Security cats- I know that for a fact

What you quoted is not sound advice...you don't get a cert and start off with 70K off the bat lol...i have 2 degrees and I started off with almost half of that

for folks looking to break into technology i will give you 1 bit of advice...get into appdev or cloud

everything else will be irrelevant in the next 10-15 years
