Why would Iggy come back for less than a 5 year deal?
Because he couldn't get 5 years anywhere else.
Why would Iggy come back for less than a 5 year deal?
Because he couldn't get 5 years anywhere else.

Which is my point. Why would he stay in Denver if another team can offer him the same money/years? It's much better city's out there.
I'm saying if Denver only offers him a 4 year deal they can still offer him more money than another team? I thought the bird rights only effected being able to offer a 5 year max.Because they can't offer the same amount of money as Denver.
Bird rights.
Denver Nuggets coach George Karl's status has become "unsettled" following the departure of general manager Masai Ujiri for the Toronto Raptors, two sources close to the situation said late Saturday night.
Karl, who was named the NBA's coach of the year following the Nuggets' 57-win season, is not in any imminent danger of losing his job, the sources stressed. But Ujiri's departure, coupled with Denver's disappointing first-round playoff exit, has shaken things up in Denver to the point that Karl, who is under contract for just one more season, could, incredibly, begin the season on the hot seat after winning the league's top coaching honor for the first time in his long career, instead of beginning extension talks.
The Los Angeles Clippers have had initial conversations with the Nuggets about Karl, league sources said, but have yet to officially request permission to speak with him.
The Clippers have yet to formally interview any candidates, but they have had preliminary discussions with ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy, Indiana associate head coach Brian Shaw, former Phoenix head coach Alvin Gentry, and former Cleveland head coach Byron Scott. ESPNLosAngeles.com reported last week that Van Gundy and Shaw are regarded as the front-runners at this point, but that the situation remains fluid, as the Clippers look to replace the departed Vinny del Negro.
The Clippers have told candidates that they prefer to hire a coach with experience, sources with knowledge of the situation said, giving Van Gundy something of an edge. But an exception would be made for Shaw, who has received strong endorsements from several players, most notably Lamar Odom, and has coached or played in nine conference finals and has championship experience with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Denver president Josh Kroenke gave Karl a vote of confidence after the season, telling the Denver Post that, "George is under contract for next year. At this point in time, we haven't really given any thought to making any change whatsoever. As we do at the end of every season, we'll have internal meetings and George will obviously be a major part of them."
That was expected though. He wants a long term deal
The Denver Nuggets have settled on a general manager. Now, they can concentrate on finding a new coach.
Team President Josh Kroenke confirmed in an email to The Associated Press on Monday that Tim Connelly will take over for Masai Ujiri, who left to become general manager of the Toronto Raptors. Connelly's official title with the team will be executive vice president of basketball operations.
Connelly is considered a rising front office talent, much like Ujiri when he first joined the Nuggets. Connelly has been serving as the assistant GM with the New Orleans Pelicans since 2010.
His first order of business with the Nuggets will be finding a replacement for George Karl after the longtime coach was fired nearly two weeks ago. Former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins is expected to interview for the Nuggets' vacant job and Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw remains a hot commodity as well.
The coach that Denver ultimately lures to the bench may play a big role in bringing back Andre Iguodala, who's expected to opt out of his $16 million contract for next season and test free agency this summer. The loss of Iguodala, the team's top defender, could be a blow to a team that won a franchise-most 57 games during the regular season only to bow out in the first round yet again as the Nuggets lost to Golden State. The Nuggets already will be without Danilo Gallinari for the start of next season as the Italian forward recovers from an ACL injury.
Before joining the Pelicans, Connelly spent a decade with the Washington Wizards, where he was in charge of scouting, salary cap and player evaluations. He traveled all over the world looking for players and has worked with various international programs to help grow the game, including the NBA's ''Basketball Without Borders'' program.
Peter D'Alessandro was believed to be a candidate for the general manager position after working closely with Ujiri in Denver, but D'Alessandro left last week to become GM with the Sacramento Kings.
