Just remember the path you've traveled and the path your on is your path. That "it worked for me, I guarantee it'll work for you!" Is for infomercials.

There are somethings that will work or make someone's quality of existence better, sometimes short term, sometimes long term. Some won't work at all.

You're not giving answers but options or alternatives. And you aren't supposed to give answers or cures, but options. You don't want the responsibility of someone saying they accomplished everything on your list and it didn't work so now they are going to kill themselves.

Granted I don't think you're telling people as a fool proof method, this happens. It happens professional and non professionally. And it sucks everytime.

I'm not really sure on that one tbh. I'd say go read "feeling great" by david burns and study the 10 cognitive distortions.

Those are pretty much the key into changing how you think, feel, and behave about yourself, others, and vices.

Addiction is weird tho, because a lot of people take the step to seek help but really don't want to stop the vice.

id say the next step after those cognitive distortions is really find out if you just want to stop drinking or if you are Ready/willing to stop drinking
