Jahil Okafor is going to be rocking that Duke Blue...
He definitely has skills and has the talent to make an impact in the NBA. But I hope he is a true 6'11 and maybe even reach 7'0 status. I don't know if he should go to Duke though if that's where he ends up. Maybe he should do like other freshman have done recently like Durant and Beasley and got to a school where he can be the man. And while he has all the tools I don't think he is a better big man prospect than Demarcus Cousins was and especially Oden who would have been a beast without the injuries.

his HS team Whitney Young is stacked, Paul White and LJ Peak(who has since gone back to South Carolina) are both top 75 prospects. You're not gonna put up 30 a game playing with that kind of talent.

Duke bigs develop well. Just because they haven't had an elite big doesn't mean nothing. Most schools haven't had an elite bigs.

As good of a coach as Coach K is, I agree whole heartedly...This kids skillset will wilt away in that current Duke system

What? Power Forward and Center are the two positions white dudes actually play well at.
After his freshman season Mason was considered a top 10 pick, the more Coach K "developed" him the worse his stock dropped. He doesn't have a history of developing big men, you say they aren't highly touted yet the vast majority of them were All-Americans. His best big man is Brand, who stayed just 2 years before Coach K could turn him into the garbage man, defender/hustle rebounder that he seems to turn everyone else into.
I get that you have to defend Duke's honor, but they straight up do not have a good history with the development of big men.
I just think it's force of habit. Dudes talk about Duke's prospects like it's the early 90s, when the "Duke players don't do well in the NBA" myth was built off Danny Ferry and Mark Alarie weak NBA careers...two nonathletic white dudes. Laettner had a solid NBA career, but he couldn't outperform the narrative. I mean, he dropped 18 and 9 as a rookie. UNC fans would blow a jackal if they were promised that Hanstravel sorry ass could EVER drop 18 and 9.
