i'm not buying bun having a ghostwriter. he improved on every release from too hard to ridin dirty. even on that last outtakes album you can hear the riding dirty style in his rhyming. he writes his own shiit.

Trill thread, Pimp was the creative force behind UGK, Bun can't hold down anything on his own and he knows that, that's why all his albums have like 20 features, how many great solo Bun tracks can you name.
Nah this is a hating ass thread

He would have never blown on his own. And if even now when he tries to be different people still dont check for him unless pimp is involved.

He would have fell to the waist side with all the other shoulda woulda coulda rappers in texas, it wasnt until he befriended ricky royal of royal flush ( the real royal flush, not that blowzee ass yankee)

where bun developed his word play and once bo$$ got sick and ricky put the mic down to take care of his girl..

bun lost it, truth is ricky royal aka cocobudda is bun's ghost writer

any real ugk fan can peep the difference in bun from the beginnin... up until him n ricky started colllabin (live wires connect and some of coco budda albums he dropped when he was djin at k104 in dallas)...how u have rhymin spurt for one album...n fall allllllllllllllll the way off the next 3

rick brought the best of bun, nikkas still hold on rydin dirty album and that murder verse..

bun hasnt had verse like that since..

rick took a step back..

bun got friendly turned his back on texas, went against everything the underground kings stood for, outside nikkas jackin trill etc, bun give em passes suckin they dikk

So much I have to respectfully disagree on this. Here are my points:

1. Bun's age: dude is like pushing 40 and he's been doing this rap shyt for 20 plus years. He's mentality has changed and who he is has changed. I don't think he is turning his back on Texas but what he is doing is try to diversify his own self-brand and money. He's 41 and a very rich man with establish ties in Texas and PA. Rap is a young man's game and he's content and image have remain the same. He didn't make the transition like Nas, Common, and Jay-Z in terms of music and self-image. Honestly there is nothing wrong with that, he wants to take a different route in Hip-Hip.

2. This is Houston and he's been in Houston long enough to where our open-mindedness won't have us shut down "outsiders". If he likes Drake and Big KRIT and wants to help him out, he should go for it. Like I said rap is a young man's game and KRIT has been respectful enough to want to carry on the UGK legacy. Houston people are about that dollar, he knows that aligning and helping the right people will ensure he is taken care in the future.

3. UGK is gone, Pimp is gone. There will never be UGK, period. I enjoy UGK and the music for what it is and realize that the interplay between Bun and Pimp will never happen.

4. The success of both are mutually exclusive to each other. Bun isn't anyone without Pimp, and Pimp isn't anyone without Bun. Besides that, Pimp was one of a kind. He was valedictorian of his HS and had scholarship to some of the better institutes in the country. Pimp was extremely talented and smart. Bun also was quite talented and both used each other's strengths to make a good band.

5. Bun B wants to make money. He's 41, he can't milk this rap ish forever bruh! Nothing wrong with wanting to teach, maybe pay to do consulting, and to guide younger MCs.

he didnt disowned..texas didnt have its legs yet...and he was ambitious...

cant knock em for it...he never forgot where came from...u run up on him right now..ask em about face n willie d fightin at the apollo n big mello had to fill in for willie

or askin to tell his funniest willie d story...he will always mention this one when willie was wired up n fought like 40cops...n was eatin pepper and bear spray ..on some hulk smash shyt

I watched this video for the first time in a long time and I never realized he was wearing a Prairie View A&M shirt :wow:

I always enjoy these @shopthatwrecks threads even if he doesn't like Bun because he's always dropping some knowledge on Houston rap :salute:

That being said, Bun will always be one of my favorite rappers, but he has fallen off something serious ... it's mainly his flow. It started in the Dirty Money era when he would repeat the last couple of syllables of each bar. He only did it in passing back then, now I'd be hard pressed to find a song where he doesn't do it.

I cosign what people have said about Pimp having more charisma and being able to carry a project better than Bun ... The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones and Trill O.G. came out within a month of each other and I got to thinking how Pimp could put out a better album than Bun despite being dead for three years :beli:

Still considering buying a ticket for The Trillest tour when he and Kirko come to NY in May :patrice:

Wow, Ok I don't understand the overall premise of your post & this thread. Is it to show bun as being a sell out???

You're off base & just feel some type of way about bun for whatever reason.

As a rapper? ABSOLUTELY bun has fell off. His repeating ad-libs on every track is annoying. Overall your post didn't inform me on anything I didnt know & as far as your "southern krs one" statement, that's very haterish dont you think?

Its your prerogative if you don't like the man but when he was on his free pimp c movement he kept pimp's name alive. Even too short came out and said pimp would've came home to nothing if it wasn't for bun. Did they have a argument & have strong differences before pimp died? YES. Would they have stayed a group & went solo? depends on who you ask.

They were like brothers & brothers do fight. He's in his 40s now bruh, he's teaching at rice & going on with his life. What do you want him to do? As far as him co signing KRIT, asap or whoever. He's NOT riding their coattails because they're "hot". It's obvious a lot of dudes studied ugk(like krit) & it's more about them paying homage & showing respect and bun is cosigning that.....

nah breh..its tit for tat with the big boi thread...

it aint even much that serious breh...

the southern krs one is not a hate statment.....doin what krs one is a good thing...but bun is also a hypocrite..to speak on the shyt krs does...the whole bun b day aint shyt...he jus spinned off what trae got..and trae does waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more for the city n the youth ...and was doin before they even gave em recognition for it...

i dont like men..i tolerate them...breh too short was on the outside lookin in...he didnt really know what was goin down with pimp n why he got what he got...pimp would have gotten a slap on the wrist...but since rap-a-lot was goin thru it with the feds..they tried to get pimp to speak..pimp spoke on his situation the alot...u can find alot of em on youtube..

pimp been locked up before on drug shyt n other shyt..nobody was screamin free pimp c...pimp got his ass whupped by the miller boys..bun didnt start a get well soon pimp c campaign...the free pimp c shyt was on some trumped up charge shyt..

we tombout texas..pimp could have came home like it wasnt shyt...got back to the music n other shyt...could made all the money he was losin jus doin shows in arkansas, louisiana, texas,

he had industry potnas he helped out that would have looked out for em, didnt need bun or jprince...

them nikkas wasnt like brothers.. dre n big boi r brothers.. bun n pimp when alive would have told u..they didnt like each other...n before they died they only had 2 real friends that they shared.. mitch queen n big gipp...them nikkas were opposites...

they squashed their plex for the money n tolerated each other

age aint nuthin but a number breh..40yrs old..and still tryin 2 remain young...bun is a monkey see monkey do ass nikka..lil kim, luda, 9th wonder questlove n gza all either was teachin courses or had studies about em in college..hell even lil b....all been doin that college shyt be4 the age of 40

get out ya feelings breh...

91-95bun is my favorite bun...i loved the dope fiend bun...motherfukk the sober one...
