People in this thread are giving White people a huge pass. The downtown areas they are gentrifying went to shyt because of White Flight which is when those White people left the city to go to the suburbs. This shifted resources from the inner city to the burbs which left the inner city destitute and the lower property values led to less money going into education which led to subpar education for upcoming generations. BUT even as that was happening there was massive redlining so the Blacks stuck in the inner city couldn’t even get loans to buy homes or start businesses! To add insult to injury the war on drugs begins, so we have overpolicing, we have our men being taken off the streets and locked up at record rates, we have subpar education, and these same Whites that started all this shyt look at us and say “y’all not investing in this great land...yall had your chance...now we will take it from you so GTFO!”
