Funny thing is this shyt always happens every few generations and folks so stupid to act like its new. You watch older tv shows areas that are currently black used to be white and vice versa. This shyt might not change again during our life span but our grandkids probably see another change. That's life but people act so shook like this is the first time its ever happened.
Let’s be honest Black people just take White Peoples leftovers when it comes to neighborhoods :yeshrug:

Gentrification is bad because it doesn't just turn high crime or run down areas into nice, low crime, business filled areas. It doesn't get "rid" of poverty either. All it does it push people in poverty further into poverty and into neighborhoods with worse crime than the ones they came from since that's all they can afford. Like in my city, Midtown and North Omaha is being gentrified by whites and Vietnamese people. While it's providing businesses and jobs which is a good thing, it's just forcing the black and hispanic people in those neighborhoods to move to closer to the Omaha-Council Bluffs border which is high meth use area. Like the meth arrests in that area account for like 93% off the arrests in that area. That's not a good thing, obviously people don't want to raise their kids or live in an area filled with meth but that's what gentrification forces them to do.

Depend on the city some people get pushed to regular parts of town where I’m from. It gives some families a chance to get out that cycle of hood shyt.

Yea it’s bad for some people but when u depend on govt or so poor that shyt like that dictate you that what happens sadly:francis:. You at the mercy of the colonizers

That's true but you also have to look at it from their perspective. Not everyone in the hood is involved in crime or hood shyt, a lot of people are only there because it's all they can afford so when they're forced to move out of their neighborhoods and have to find new housing or even new jobs and schools for their kids then that will be hard for them to do because they weren't prepared for the move. Unfortunately poor black people in this country don't have the luxury of having healthy savings accounts or access to bank loans so when they're forced to move into new neighborhoods or the rent in their neighborhoods go up due to gentrification they're fukked.

True for some it’s a blessing for some it’s a curse.

Poverty really the biggest problems for most folks. That lead to shyt like this. For visitors and middle class people gentrification is a godsend but for the some poor people it’s hell.

Gentrification is a bubble that's going to pop like any other speculative bubble. It makes sense in larger cities with high paying industries and the professional class to support it but in smaller to medium sized cities, there is no way that those cities have professional class that has the income necessary to pay these rents and patronize a place that has a 18 dollar farm to table burger. Its a renters and real estate bubble thats going to explode just like the house flippers from 2005-2008. However, demographics are never going to remain static and in larger areas, blacks with means should seek to cash in as well. My wife's dad has approached us about going in on some property in Birmingham in the Avondale neighborhood, a rapidly gentrifying area. We will definitely take a serious look at what he has proposed.

Especially in these small towns that should have stopped with downtown revitalization. Ain't nobody gonna drop 150-300k on a condo to live across the street from the Arab store just because it's close to a local brewery.

I'm not giving them too much credit, the average black person has a monthly checking balance of $2,501 compared to white people's average of $10,909. That's a huge difference, we both know why there's a huge difference but still. In 2015 27.4% of black people were denied mortgages, I'm well aware that all white people aren't millionaires but the statistics don't lie.
