Funny because you can find the same crowd in the suburbs. People are people. There's about as much drug dealers, thugs and crazies in the burbs as there are in the hood.

:mjlol: Man hell nawl get out of here with that foolishness

Nah man, I’ve seen people go through this shyt personally... I can’t get jiggy with this shyt OP. I mean when you got old people who really just keep to themselves getting kicked out in a short amount of time man that’s horrible.

I get what you saying but there gne be some casualties that’s the part that sucked..

I seen the other way around my Gma sold her house in the hood and got her a little nice double wide trailer in the country where it was better for her.

I don't think it's a bad thing, it's actually a pretty good thing... but it's just business as always.

I mean, these gentrified areas couldn't stay the hood forever. If anyone had been around the East Coast cities 25-30 years ago then you already know.

In my eyes, the people who lived there, didn't invest in it when they had the chance--so someone else saw the potential and made it work.

And I get how people can see the racial angle in it--but it's so much more to it than that. Like you said--it's really about the haves and have nots. For example....Brooklyn has been a haven for gentrification for the past few decades. Williamsburg had a strong white [trash] population in some parts of it forever--they were moved out by more affluent whites too.

Some parts of Fort Green have had a healthy enclave of middle class blacks for decades.. I know quite a few blacks who owned homes in Crown Heights (and now some parts of Lefferts Gardens) who have lived there forever...and now that there's money to be made, they've moved out of the area, but kept the homes to rent to high income yuppies.

ALOT of blacks have gotten into the real estate game here too and are making bank off these gentrified areas....but alot of people from the outside just don't hear about that part of it.

And in addition to all of that, you people with education and some change in their pockets moving into these areas who are from all races, black included. I know, because I myself became a "gentrifier" when I bought into a lower income area that's now being gentrified. I know a few other blacks who have as well.

All facts breh. People should look at it from the otherside. You can make bank just like the white folks. That race angle just ain’t right because it ain’t like they stopping you from buying or moving inthere because you black:comeon:. They just appealing to another money demographic.

They blame gentrification but in reality the root cause of all the shyt is poverty. If you in poverty you gne get left out and the short end of the stick in everything in life.

Real estate investors only care about that dolla bottom line. :manny:.

I wouldn’t mind moving to the inner city and not being in a hood. That shyt gets old

What is a thug, drug dealer, or crazy people look like though?

They could be anybody. But crime rate and poverty go hand in hand. So if it is a pretty decent suburb, there isn’t about as much the same crime going on.

D.C. ,living in ATL
So do you think it’s a bad thing or good thing seeing that you stay in ATL?

Well I'm glad I bought my house 12 years ago because rent is def going up -

but they started moving Blacks to the south, east, and west side- I saw that happening a while ago so I bought my house on the north side. I tell everyone it's cheaper to buy a house .

Everyone should focus on getting their credit fixed .

So is gentrification really that bad?

Yea poor people get forced out of their homes and whatnot and it seems to have some racial undertones but not really. It really just got to do with the haves and havenots.

I know y’all tired of seeing old broken down crime filled hoods in major cities. It seem to do more good than harm :yeshrug:
It doesn't even have racial undertones IMO. People just look at it from their own perspective that's all. In Philly broke ass whites getting the same treatment and getting their broke asses moved out too. So at least in Philly its all broke cats can get it approach.

That's not exactly true. Crime happens all the time everywhere as long as theres law and law enforcement. It's just labeled based on the person who is policing and the person offending. The same action could get someone a death sentence or be seen as self defense depending on the judge and jury.

Gentrification is bad because it doesn't just turn high crime or run down areas into nice, low crime, business filled areas. It doesn't get "rid" of poverty either. All it does it push people in poverty further into poverty and into neighborhoods with worse crime than the ones they came from since that's all they can afford. Like in my city, Midtown and North Omaha is being gentrified by whites and Vietnamese people. While it's providing businesses and jobs which is a good thing, it's just forcing the black and hispanic people in those neighborhoods to move to closer to the Omaha-Council Bluffs border which is high meth use area. Like the meth arrests in that area account for like 93% off the arrests in that area. That's not a good thing, obviously people don't want to raise their kids or live in an area filled with meth but that's what gentrification forces them to do.

Maybe I’m indifferent to this type of exploiting. I see what you trying to say but I see it as normal life shyt. If you got money you can stay if you dnt you and your culture and history got to get out. What’s the issue.

The white folks put people in urban spots now they want that spot back. That what happen when you let people dictate your life
Funny thing is this shyt always happens every few generations and folks so stupid to act like its new. You watch older tv shows areas that are currently black used to be white and vice versa. This shyt might not change again during our life span but our grandkids probably see another change. That's life but people act so shook like this is the first time its ever happened.
