Both Republicans and democrats don't actually want to solve the problem.
Republicans want to use it to put more money into police departments who they hope will back them when they inevitably try to do an actual coup since they've given up entirely on using logic and reason to solve problems. You know..actual political science.
Democrats want to use it to try and resolve the contradiction of capitalism(you can't continue to have economic growth whilst refusing to pay workers a fair wage so they can actually pay for the goods and services) they want a 21st century slave state style "solution" like what you see in gulf countries where the average citizen lives well only because there are millions of underpaid and in many cases never paid laborers.
Immigrant labor is also used as a union busting tactic which both sides are in favor of. They both hate unions because their big donors hate unions and the donors are the ones they actually work for.
