Pop music is meant to be popular, its meant to resonate with various groups of people not just one. Hip-hop crossed that threshhold a long time ago. Also, acknowledging where an art comes from doesn't prohibit others from enjoying it or even contributing to it if they have an genuine appreciation for it.

America's blended nature and youth compared to other nations also make it a cultural anomaly, demographics of who makes/consumes what music included.

This is something black music has been dealing with since the creation of the Blues. Funk, blues, jazz, hip hop, randb etc are just as indigenous to AA's ,as other cultural music genres are to the people of that country. This gets lost when we put in the "american" factor

this is completely off topic, but wtf is everyone's problem with popcorn ceilings?

:mindblown:

ya'll really in bed on some LL Cool J/white boy in a coming of age film just staring at the ceiling while some soft rock plays in the background

She loves me
She loves me not
She loves me
God, I need a new ceiling

Sir in between trolling, being a thug and slaying hoes I watch DIY and I've learned to appreciate the beauty of good interior decor. :picard:

Popcorn ceilings represent 80's motel rooms, post disco mirror heavy furnishings and Reaganomics. Certain parts of the past belong in the past.

Black music and popular music aren't mutual exclusive though. Rihanna and Drake's song "Work" is obviously black music that just so happens to be pop music.

I never said anything about others not being able to enjoy it, but it strip it of what it actually is just because other races like it is insincere IMO. Hip hop will always belong to black americans. Reggae will always belong to black carribeans. Salsa will always belong to the cubans, etc. Doesn't matter how popular it gets.
Is Work obviously black? It sounds (to me) like a pop record paying homage to the islands, not necessarily a straight up dance hall record that happened to blow up and a part of pop culture. And you're right about the two not being mutually exclusive, because hip-hop is a part of pop culture...and because of that I unfortunately disagree with the bolded but that's probably another discussion.

I wonder if we're at the end sometimes, like what could come after hip-hop? Historically our music meshes into maimstream culture and we create another genre...but after this I don't know. The closest thing is this hybrid R&B-trap shyt and these dudes barely pronouncing their words but they want to call themselves hip-hop.

I imagine folks were saying this as Jazz was beginning to slow down. Hip hop still has alot of time on the clock left imo. Blacks also need to start revisiting some of the older genres as well

If you add some Mike Tyson mansion accessories such as gold stair plating and some animal print you can actually make the place a tastefully retro sex spot.

I don't think hip-hop has that much time left as a black genre. It's had probably the longest tenure as such but that's not lasting forever. Personally I see a literal white knight coming.

I didn't say he created it hahahah, talking about moving the goal posts. You are trying to move words around to try to help your shytty argument

LOL. He helped kick off the classic south sound and Rap-A-Lot records musically

He helped "kick off" a sound that was already in existance years before he showed up. :martin:

Of an already Platinum selling group that had developed their signature sound, again, years before he showed up. :martin:

He didn't create or innovate shyt. He played a small supporting role. And that's it.

I guess he had no hand in UGK's early sound

This is the type of shyt i'm talking about...him playing a small role in ONE TRACK on their debut album = "he had a hand in their early sound" :laff:

And LOL @ a cracka trying to dictate who participates in a hip-hop discussion :heh:

Kill ya'self peckawood

It's odd to see you guys keep refering to him as a "CAC". As someone raised in Texas I can honestly say that "cacs" don't consider mexicans cacs.

One could argue we've already seen this happening with Eminem
I think black music will be fine. The youth has to change their approach though. More respect for the old school and older styles. And a higher concentration of actual musicians wanting to play music instruments. If we can make that "trendy" again, i think we'll be fine
