Get this fool out of here. I mean in some fairness, he has had a hand in hip-hop well before hooking up with Kanye West, but most of that stuff is middling (not wack but nothing that was especially memorable either) it's rather arrogant of Mike Dean to proclaim he's his hand in 1/2 of Black music when it is closer to maybe 3% if that. Furthermore he had to come to the realization that no matter who performs it or who listen's to it, hip-hop at it's core is a Black artform with Blacks (generally speaking) as the intended audience in most cases, now if there are elements white people get from it ( and there are) a lot of the content is geared towards aspects of the Black experience.

He is credited on all these albums for mixing/engineering and producing. Scarface and these guys talk about him directly, he puts Mike Dean up there with Dr Dre in his book.
None of this information is hard to find either. And like I said before, people who understand the entire process know how important the mixing is. That's why guys like Dr Dre and DJ Quik would be asked to mix down the records. Theres a reason that Kanye West asks Mike Dean for his help.

exactly. This is the singular reason why I say Scarface has no classic albums. He's a superb writer with a great voice and when the beat's great, he's makes some of the best rap ever.
But his production is damn near trash across the board.
