Growing up in the south pork was something we lived by. I loved pork and the only person I knew who didn't eat any was my uncle who was a muslin (noi). Fast forward to me being an adult. Over the past couple years I've been distancing myself from pork and red meat all together to be healthier, but at the same time I've also noticed that alot of black people are not eating pork either. These days it seems like either we love it and have to have it or dont fukk with it at all.

Do you eat pork or not? If not, why don't you or why did you stop?

Oddly enough many of the slaves in the South did not eat pork, because they were Muslim.

I don't eat pork. I nor my parents are religious but they raised me not to eat it. My mother did study Islam as a teenager but never joined (something happened in New York at that time that deterred her and my uncle from following through in 77). I would imagine being a teen/young adult in Newark 30 years ago my father was exposed to Islam/Five Percenter ideas also (he's like the only sibling who won't eat pork though).

I only break my upbringing for Skittles which have gelatin.

im not denying they do disgusting things, but ive encountered worse from all the other animals outside of goats. constantly having to wash the steers down because they would roll in their fresh wet shyt, cutting poop balls out of sheep wool, chickens killing and eating eating each other. if someone has a problem with pigs based on what they do before they are processed, then they wouldnt eat any farm animal
