At work reading this thread like :snoop:. Im rocking with Kawhi on this one. Kawhi the only wing, out of everybody that is getting paid, that got his team a ring. He has been to the conference finals every year he has been in the league. Without Kawhi we would have broken the team up 2-3 years ago. People forget, we were done in 09. Absolutetly done. Had no athleticism. And now the perfect piece falls in your lap in the draft, and you gonna play hardball with him. Mind you, everybody knows the cap is gonna balloon in 2 years, so his contract won't even be as big of a dent in the cap as it looks like now. You don't start off trying to short a player that helped yo get a ring and wants to sign longterm in San Antonio. You will never be able to spend that money on a free agent, so what the fukk are you thinking. The market has been set already. If Parsons and Haywood got paid, Kawhi has to get paid. Simple as that..

That type of thinking would've made the Suns overpay for Bledsoe and the Pistons overpay for Monroe.

Bledsoe still ended up getting 5 years, 70 mil from Phoenix though. And correct me if I'm wrong but there were teams willing to max Monroe too but he was scared Detroit would match.

No way Detroit would've matched a max for Monroe.

You can't have two secondary dribblers like kawhi and parsons getting the primary minutes on ur perimeter especially when u starting pg is Monta whose a very good player but not a set up man. That just doesn't seem like a good lineup to put together on the floor. Either parsons or kawhi would need to come off the bench....
It most definitely would work although I don't see it happening. Monta brings dribble penetration and DOES create for others. Chandler and Dirk spreads the floor and we're a halfcourt team. We could run the pick and roll with any 2 players (1-4) and have adequate spacing on the floor. At point I'm sure Monta could produce 20 and 8.
