SINY!!
The regular season numbers are pedestrian.....but the dude is an elite defender, he's money in the playoffs (even that Finals loss against Miami, he played his heart out)....he's the 3rd option/arguably 4th and probably wants to be the man someplace else if not in SA. He is going to get his money....at the worst he signs a 1 or 2 year deal until the leagues new media contract kicks in.

This dude has NOT consistently put up numbers that would justify that contract.

Dude had a great finals and everybody loved him cause he helped defeat the big bad wolf

but he goes ghost WAY to much during the season and in other playoff series to think he is a max player.

If Kawhi gets a max deal the same people who were talking about he was on LeBron's level a few months back will be calling him overpaid and overrated.

That said, I hope that Black man gets every dime he can.

At work reading this thread like :snoop:. Im rocking with Kawhi on this one. Kawhi the only wing, out of everybody that is getting paid, that got his team a ring. He has been to the conference finals every year he has been in the league. Without Kawhi we would have broken the team up 2-3 years ago. People forget, we were done in 09. Absolutetly done. Had no athleticism. And now the perfect piece falls in your lap in the draft, and you gonna play hardball with him. Mind you, everybody knows the cap is gonna balloon in 2 years, so his contract won't even be as big of a dent in the cap as it looks like now. You don't start off trying to short a player that helped yo get a ring and wants to sign longterm in San Antonio. You will never be able to spend that money on a free agent, so what the fukk are you thinking. The market has been set already. If Parsons and Haywood got paid, Kawhi has to get paid. Simple as that..

man, that haywood deal got every wing tryin to get paid :laff:

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
it puts the Spurs in a weird position

he's not worthy of the max, but he'll definitely get the max on the open market from somebody especially with the cap going up

to me, he's got to put up bigger numbers during an entire regular season to earn it... it's great that he comes thru in the playoffs, but with that team only getting older, they need him to play like a max player during the regular season too
