It's funny I basically already could sense something like this, and said it in my "if you're parents dont have money, don't go to college" thread which got thrown to the bushes.

People are looking too deep i think. If you grew up poor and large najoruty of your family is poor, getting a degree won't offset all that

I agree with you, what's funny is watching people on my newsfeed who are struggling, constantly condemning unions. I never call them out for what it is though, which is:

I agree, but there is some truth to this. I work in corporate. Less than 2% of the employees see payroll. Trust me. You will be like what the fukk if you were to see Cacs salaries vs blacks. So of them don't even have the same credentials. A black with an MBA can make 20k or more less than Cacs with a Bachelors.

Yeah I understand that. It's the same for women but that's not what the article is comparing. It's comparing white college drop outs to black college graduates. Even in the article it says the numbers are bs.

Yeah people also need to learn to pick better majors or career paths.

I know a dude from high school. He wanted to be in the medical field so he looked into careers that had decent pay and shorter school/training time and then at what he would actually enjoy doing. Of course RN nursing came up associate degree starting off AT LEAST $25/hr but he didn't see himself enjoying the work so he found Respiratory therapy interested him. Went to school for 18 months by age 20 got a job starting at $24 dollars an hour and now he's 27 years old with 7 years experience making $28/hr working has a respiratory therapist and he loves his job. Yeah he's not rich but he's very comfortable and had a plan out of high school that he stuck too.

My best friends brother graduated from UAB w/ a respiratory therapy major a year or two ago.
Now he gets paid to travel and work. Goes from place to place every 3 - 6 months.
Not sure of his exact arrangement but his rent is covered and he gets a fairly decent salary. He's in Hawaii now.
Sounds like a really good gig.

What are we getting degrees in? My MBA is in healthcare management. I don't have a frivolous degree. I work in a hospital in a senior position in supply chain in the chicagoland area. That said, I don't see other people with my skin walking through these doors in the same capacity as I either. So, to my original question with more added. What are we getting degrees in? Does your degree actually make sense in today's market

This. I don't know how it is now, but my dad retired with a fat pension. More than what a lot of people make in a year. He worked 20 years a bus driver for the city. I know a few black people who eat good off of gov't jobs.
