Its very possible to rate Kanye high without his lyrics. Just because of again, his beats, visuals, and overall contribution to the culture.

Drake is only a rapper, an average one at that who’s writing is questionable, who actually steals from the culture.

Its no real comparison.

That's still not the debate. When people are putting Kanye on a Top 5 MC's list like Common and Fat Joe did, they aren't doing it because of the beats, visuals, or overall contribution to the culture. Common specifically said he killed Watch The Throne and Kanye was trading mics with a great on that album. That speaks volumes. No one's discrediting Kanye's production work or contribution to the culture. But if we're out here calling out Drake for bragging about being a GOAT even though he has writers, if we aren't calling out Kanye for the same offense, then we aren't being consistent and we aren't being honest. As a result, we are being passive and allowing what Drake does as the norm because Kanye got a pass for it first.

NOBODY was talkin about Kanye and Ghost writers and ghost producers during that early run...

Yes, people did talk about Kanye having writers and producers:

"Jesus Walks" by Rhymefest?

We reported a few weeks ago that The Mindset Army hadbegun a petition against Kanye West and his 10 Grammy nominations because he may not have written the smash hit “Jesus Walks” We also reported that the man in question who is credited as the co-writer of the song goes by the name of Rhymefest. Now a version of the song shows up on the Chicago-bred rapper’s website and has even reportedly leaked to the Internet.

His website features a link of the rapper performing the song with Kanye in Chicago. Rhymefest spits the first verse exactly the same as Kanye except he uses his name instead of Kanye’s (“Somebody tell these ni**gas who Rhymefest is”) while the second verse is slightly different. Rhymefest is credited for co-writing the song but rumors have surfaced that the song was bought by Kanye.

^^^ And from what I remember before "Jesus Walks" ever got released as a single. It was one of the songs that started Kanye's buzz as a rapper.

I've witnessed first hand the level of stannery of Kanye over there. In the thread on his new album, they are praising the lyrics. That site swears Kanye, Wayne, and Drake are the end all/be all of Hip Hop. They actually believe Kanye is >>>>> Jay Z and I'm not making it up.

Kanye was never bigger than Drake at his peak. Sadly, the fact Drake is light skin black opens him up to a whole nother audience. Oh yea, he is jewish too. Plus, was kanye ever so big he could sell a blank disc? Remember they compared Drakes buzz to 50 Cent. Drake's popularity got Degrassi picked up for syndication in a bunch of new places.

Numbers dont lie.

Kanye also said Beyonce had the best video of all time with Single Ladies. Kanye is known to say outlandish things. Plus, no one really took Kanye the artist serious. It was always on some Dr. Dre shyt. The difference is with Drake, people were fooled into thinking he was great. Up until a little after Take Care Drake's reputation was spotless. Then the tide slowly changed and with Meek Mill the can of worms opened right up.
Real nikkas knew about nick F and hush earlier but that was all hearsay for the most part and unconfirmed

He helped on Bruno Mars songs off the latest album....guess that money running low or he aint get it yet if hes doing things like this, you might be right thought they may be about to get him right up outta here

More goal post moving. The fact that he is viewed as an elite MC at all in spite of the writing speaks volumes, which is where the Drake backlash comes from: a so called MC with writers bragging about being elite.

Plenty of people have called Kante out on his fraudery from the jump. Has nothing to do with Drake's posturing.

Are people trying to get Kanye to stop Pusha from doing any further damage to Drake by going at Kanye? First James Fauntleroy and now J. Prince is saying there's a diss that would destroy Kanye's career.

Well, it wouldn't and shouldn't have anything to do with Drake except for the fact that Kanye is still given passes for his posturing and it is overlooked. And all it boils down to is people showing a preference. I don't respect what Drake did and never really looked at him as elite, but I don't sit here and excuse what he did just because I like his music.
