Mobb were featured in the Source in July 91 as Hav and P.

SCC was a C level west coast rap group who didn’t drop an album until 92, and it wasn’t on a major label.
South Central Madness is the debut studio album by American rap group South Central Cartel. It was released on January 22, 1992 through Pump Records with distribution via Quality Records.

Mobb were right to confront them for stealing their names and SCC was shook, according to Prodigy who never lied or exaggerated about anything.

I really think this was one of those weird coincidences. They came out around the same time, so would've came up with names around the same time. Plus you weren't really learning individual names like that around that time. When I learned Mobb's names, i was like nah that ain't right l, that's SCC. One of my friends was like - you remember Hit It From the Back, and Peer Pressure. Wait, that's them?

In all honesty, I think someone from each faction heard those words together and dubbed them.

This reminds me of the fact there's Meek Millz
Lol which is why Meek dropped the "Z". Meek from Task Force/Naam came home like why you running around with my name? And they were both managed by Charlie Mack...at different pojints. .Honestly, Meek could just used Meek or Meek Milly. No one ever referred him Meek Millz, and "Mill" sounds stupid

What is the name of the 87 album?
Was it on a major label?
Was it getting play in NY?

The key here is whether they were big enough to have reached NY prior to 91 and be big enough that Mobb decided to steal their names. That doesn’t seem plausible to me, but I could be wrong.

Mobb were known before the Pac incident. And they were definitely national at the time of Hit Em Up. They came in the game around the same time, and their videos were on the same shows...at definitely the underground shows in the Northeast, so I would assume y'all watched Rap City and were familiar with them.

And Spice 1, Eiht and Ice would've known who Mobb were then, as well. They spent hella time in New York.
