:russ: And I agree completely.
his whole post summed up everything completely . . especially the latter portion. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the guy who got on by paying to open up for Nas or someone DJ Premier was affiliated with, someone heard him from backstage and the wheels went in motion

albums sounding like 16 songs of rapping about rapping
So Saigon made music rappin about rappin? Only one that lame u qouted listed who falls into that category is Joell Ortiz. When Saigon was buzzin he was undeniable. nikka made street music. Not no nerd shyt.

Haven't heard his music and i will say that in general its funny how wack rappers or "meh" rappers get over and are so accepted by the same cats that then shyt on cats actually
repping hip-hop or trying to do so. Its so funny.

Like i said, for 10 years we've been in the "troll era" were everybody just brainwashed to dismiss actually good work or artists TRYING hard to sharpen their skill & keep it true, yet folks are drawn to WACK artists/music and their shtick, or go for juggular shyt like a percieved image or so. But then yall the same ones talking about who killed hip-hop.

Other posters have made the points I would have made as to why Watch How It Go Down is an amazing song.
I have no idea if it is one of the best songs of the 2000s, but it seems like it should be. Definitely the last five years of that decade when quality took a nosedive.

Did you hear Watch How it Go Down before you heard the album? That song dropped in 2006 and then there was a long delay until the album dropped.

According to Wikipedia, this is how he met Primo:
In collaboration with the New Hampshireproducer DC the MIDI Alien, Carrillo independently released the album Out the Gatein 2005.[3] The single "This Is Hip Hop" attracted the attention of The Source, which featured the rapper in its much-coveted "Unsigned Hype" column.[4] A friendship with the Gang Starr Foundation member Krumbsnatcha led to a meeting with DJ Premier, who was a fan of "This Is Hip Hop". Termanology's DJ Premier-produced 2006 single "Watch How It Go Down" generated considerable national[5] and international[6]interest, including an appearance in XXL's "Show & Prove" column.[7]
