Tough call. If we're not counting mixtapes, for me it's:

The Listening
The Minstrel Show
May The Lord Watch
Getback
Leftback

It's a strong catalog overall and depending on your age and tastes, The Listening is indelible. If you start bringing in solo stuff and mixtapes, Chitlin Circuit 1.5 is super underrated - as is Sleepers.

The Minstrel Show

On another note, didn't want to make a thread for it but I just discovered this track a month ago and I don't know how I never heard this when LB/Phonte was all over features in the mid-late 00s. This a top 10 feature from them.

I knew this track from the first 15 secs. I think I heard this on 2dopeboyz or something in the early 2010's.

I'll say this about LB; they like BAD bytch you see one time and cannot describe to your dude how good she look.

They underground as hell, and have 70 AMAZING JOINTS.

I legit thing, if you add all their features, albums, tapes, they the greatest thing the underground ever produced. And they just do not get the love they deserve.

Little Brother and all their affiliate acts had my 20's in a chokehold.

The Listening and then The Minstrel Show for me…can’t forget about them damn Chitlin Circuit mixtapes too. :wow:

STOP IT, BREH! Imma be up all night!

I lived between Virginia and Georgia and was on the road a lot. I bought this and Sleepers from like a Flea Market.

I torn this album up on road trips

Yea, yea, ok, alright
Ya'll know them nikkas that I'm talking bout
The ones that y'all be seeing at the coffee house
Soon as they get the mic I start walking out
And swear that they skill's the most talked about
It's time to bring the emcees on, I'm sick of nikkas looking
bytch trying to read poems and try to battle
Me with sandals and capris on, come on dog
I'm about to get hyped with this, shed some light to this
So called black righteousness
Even though y'all nikkas might not cuss like me
End of the night y'all just trying to fukk like me
So what's the reason for the hating, nikkas with dreads
Calling they self gods with white girls named Caitlin
And I'm cool with interracial dating, but I ain't about
To hear no fukking speeches cause I wanna have some bacon
I've rocked Antwerp, that's why I can't fukk with
Coffee houses man, get on my god damn nerves
And deep down y'all know that I'm right, man shyt I'm bout
To kick some Trick Daddy next poetry night like
"My black queen
Don't know nan nikka!"

If I have to rank them:

The Listening
May the Lord Watch
The Minstrel Show
Getback
Leftback

Then sequencing of The Listening makes it stand out just that little bit more because it literally goes from day to night. This makes the album feel like journey music and that’s exactly what it was for me going back/forth to college.

MTLW is probably the best album from a rapping perspective because both Phonte and Pooh are way more polished now than they were back then.
