Based on Lord Jamar's reverence for his elders/peers I wonder what he would say about Chuck's comments there. Interesting.

He dare wouldn't hate on Chuck D. He is Hip Hop's best father figure we have.

I'm 23 and know who Brand Nubian is. The ignorance and lack of respect from people my age and younger is sickening.

Rap is the only genre of music that has younger fans with the mentality to shyt on the music that came before it.
Exactly...Im 22 and I found out about Brand Nubian from watching Rap City so age is no excuse..the first vid I saw was "Don't Let It Get To Your Head"and I did the knowledge from there...now that I think about it The Box, Video Music Box and Rap City is responsible for me being hip to a lot of stuff and having such a diverse taste in music today

No you didn't, I asked for some rules and regulations that you didn't just make up out of fukking nowhere, it's why you got so mad at me in the first place for asking a simple question, because you know you were going to sound/look stupid.

As I read through these rules I have to ask my self, who sanctioned any of this besides some nikka on a message board who obviously takes his "staff" badge way too seriously? :ld:

"Rule #1. White rapers do as told"

And this is the staff around here?
:pachaha:

And even as a confirmed cocksucker Mister Cee is more hip hop than you, as is biggie who is the GOAT (gayest rapper of all time).

Chuck D > you and Lord Jamal

The foundation, the elements :ohlawd:

Being well versed in anything you're involved in is preferred but you don't have to pass a fukking exam for this shyt. I could top rock before I could read nikka. This is INNATE.

*LISTENS TO RAPPERS DELIGHT*

Every last one of those :flabbynsick: biting, sell out nikkas have done more for hip hop than be 1 of the umpteen moderators on a message board.

Let's make this easier for you, since this was the supposed "rule" in question. What rule, regulation or even a comment from any noteworthy authority states that there is a limit to what subjects an artist can address in their music?

If you knew this culture.
You would know.
It has always been obvious you were learning and did not have all the cultural knowledge.
Case in point,...
When eminem was helped by ju.
Do you think eminem directed ju?
Or just was a mercenary, for the team, emcee-wise?

Next...
Hiphop is the culture of the impoverished.
In that poverty occurs sexual crimes to bboys/bgirls in any stage,..
Especially, the child rearing stage.
So, gay culture that was a huge byproduct and sexual criminal deviance were pushed further in the social stages of our country.
In the world, it is a bigger more grave issue.
On top of the religions that this culture draws from.
Distinctly outlines homosexuality as a complete no-no.
You missed the conversion of old school to newschool, and the development of culture in hip hop.
Plus, you never mechanically experienced this culture consistently enough.
Nor, did you chose the right examples of rappers to illustrate this in your formative years, as well.
Evidenced by you being a Pac stan.
In the emotional poss of Pac, you just grafted over.
As bboys were mindful of your loss.
Just like we were mindful of the loss of cowboy to Scot larock, and even trouble.
Yet, in your gateway, you failed to embrace the culture.
As the mantra of your favorite rapper faking jax.
Took a negative connotation culturally.
After Pac's death and him as your gateway.
You never did the knowledge.
Which is your fault.
So, you never went to study, and build culturally what you were missing.
So, you missed old school to new school conversion.
Plus, the significance of learning what a scourge sugarhill and the sugarhill gang was.
Which dulled the impact of two of the greatest emcees in the history of this culture.
Who virtually reared all the emcees of the old school way of thought in any venue.
Yet, since you never went back to do the knowledge...
You lacked that knowledge.
Plus, you championed a rapper completely against the culture.
So, you spiraled out of control.
To where we are at now.
Where you do not know the culture, and are just a rap fan.
To be a bboy,..
You have to learn the history/norms/mores and then adhere and apply them.
I am shining proof culturally of committing.
If you did the same you would have similar results.
All the top posters in his community.

Aig
Walt
Mel

They have transcended every era because they are bboys.
Plus been recognized in their endeavors because they are culturally sound.
mel is white as fukk and because of hiphop.
Was able to go to another region and flourish, because he had the culture and knowledge of self.
On a level most white cats do not committ to.
shyt most nikka, do not commit to it.
When, this culture was reared by black people.
distinctly, from our pocket of social history.
If Mel a white cat can embrace and flourish.
If eminem a white cat can embrace and flourish, what is your issue.
When, you committ...
The culture and everything else will fall into place.

Aiight, now this thread is getting ridiculous :snoop: Old heads in here calling all posters who don't fukk with Brand Nubian, or other afrocentric groups that were most likely out well before a lot of posters time cacs and shyt, talking about bans :why: If people seriously start banning cats for their opinions or taste in music, this forum would fall off real quick. I, myself, have never listened to Brand Nubian due to the fact that I was a young child when they were out. I probably wouldn't care to now either. I know some people are trolling and saying disrespectful shyt, but let's not make generalizing statements bout folks simply because they don't listen to shyt that doesn't appeal to em. There isn't some holy prerequisite list of things one should have listened to so they can be a hip hop fan...what, do you want cats to fake the funk and act like they like shyt that was out when they were toddlers or some shyt? :wtf: Stop it brehs. You're being sanctimonious and pretentious as shyt.
You missed the whole point. It ain't about whether you like Brand Nubian or not. It's about showing pioneers the respect they deserve. Cats are coming in here completely ignorant to who Bran Nubian are and shytting on them. You don't have to like Brand Nubian, but any serious fan of this shyt, who hasn't peeped their shyt, should be interested in seeing what all the fuss is about. But idiots nowadays would rather troll.

You stay missing the point. And the animosity in your post makes me think @FreshAIG struck a nerve.

I loved the first Brand Nubian album when I was younger, but that doesn't mean Lord Jamar's opinion today matters. He's been talking this kind of shyt for years and Hip-Hop stopped listening a while back.
Why would his opinion stop mattering?

What does anything said here have to do with the fact that neither you or Lord Jamal having the authority to dictate what an MC can or can't express in their music?

I know what a "scourge" sugar hill is in the context that you mean it, which is why I brought them up as sellouts/biters ect...the point being, regardless of his or your ideals and they mean more to the culture than him (or you) at the end of the day.

You don't control the entire worldview of Hip Hop on the strength that you stood next to another nikka while he rapped...

:mjpls:

And being that Hip Hop is "the culture of the impoverished" it's only right that it CHANGES and SHIFTS appropriately to reflect society and the sect that identify with it it. It's a whole community of people who have been in the culture from JUMP who haven't been given a voice, which is something Hip Hop has always done from MY POV, knock down doors, open up eyes, give representation to those who don't have it. If society is moving beyond the notion that homosexuality is still such a taboo, Hip Hop will reflect that, with or without your permission to move forward.

And yea you right, I gotta commit. 2014 is the year breh, i'ma find me a dope rapper to latch on, I mean be a protege to so I can hold his name over peoples heads on the internet for validation.

I'm gonna be a legend breh's

are yall not the 1's on this site that keeps saying how younger people should know the culture, should know rappers that came before today, well why yall not making threads on them and shiit. giving these younger cats these so call rules to rap that yall wanna make up that nobody but yourself has to adhere to. nobody saying their roles wasnt important, but yall older folks wanna hold it against folks for not knowing these older rappers when putting people onto their work is just a new thread away.
