Hip hop is about freedom of expression and China is against that. Doesn't have to do with having sense or any excuse. They will make you disappear if you don't roll with the program. That isn't something you want your loved ones to experience.

You ever actually travel overseas? I was in the Navy for 4 years in the '00's and hip hop culture gave black people unearned goodwill. I'll never forget going on liberty in fukking Jakarta and the dark skin Indonesians kicking with me, all of us vibing to the Red and Meth album in some hole in the wall club. Hip hop when presented properly builds solidarity and actually breaks down cultural barriers. You can go to a B-boy show at any major city on the planet, it's a cultural soft power that can either lift the image of the black man or lower it. Hell a fukking Tunisian rapper started the Arab Spring in 2011, hip hop got the juice to change the world, don't let the way the shyt is presented here make you turn your back on a part of your people's culture. As to the article, dumb move on the part of the Chinese. Banning something always makes it go away right?

Bro, winning hearts and minds ain't a net positive? No other genre besides maybe the electronic dance shyt has the juice that hip hop has internationally. It's the kind of influence countries and government agencies literally kill for, the ability to change habits, behaviors because of one verse. I agree with you about the state of our modern era but hip hop is a weapon and one of the greatest marketing tools on the planet bar none.
