Imagine waking up every morning only to listen to music, watch movies, dress, and talk like a culture from a group of people that live on the other side of the world.

They obviously have standards of some sort and understand the importance of protecting ones own image/reputation and also protecting the minds of their young, impressionable-minded youth, who are the future leaders and soldiers.
Wish we would have done something like this a looooong time ago (not all rap just rap that promotes and glorifies things that white supremacy thrives on). I wish we had a collective mentality where we found something wrong with the messages in the music pushed onto us by the REAL controllers of hip-hop who happen to not be black themselves.
Hip-hop has completely destroyed the image of blacks worldwide. Hip-hop has helped to make the black race collectively the laughingstock of society.

I've always felt it goes both ways. In the beginning I think the realities of poor Black communities were reflected in the music. It really was street reporting then, and it still is largely. However, as it's popularity has grown exponentially, so has it's influence which unfortunately includes glamorizing a lot of activities, outlooks, and behaviors that should not be promoted. Art imitating life and vice versa is just what it is.
Still, to be fair, when one looks at what gangsters were doing in the late 70's and early 80's, one can't blame that on Hip Hop. Nobody blamed the Ohio Players for the madness happening in South Central. Or Barry White for what was happening in Chicago.
