back from japan. well tokyo is out of question. its my favorite city in asia, epic city but god damn those houses are shoe boxes and hella expensive. :damn:

1 bedroom the size of a large kitchen for like $900. :damn:
they sleep on the floor and shower rooms are the size of telephone booths, literally. :damn:

fukk that, how much is a one bedroom in Colombia, Im thinking about jumping ship to S.A next year around this time. I think Im finally done with asia. :mjcry:

I share a large 3 bed, 2 bath with one other roommate. I pay about $400. spend about $7 on food per day. drinks at the bar, are about $3 avg. taxi ranges from $3-$5. Life here is so cheap, its going to be hard to leave.

I talked to some venezuelans last week about Caracas, they say its probably the cheapest in S.A right now because of the economy, but the violence is probably more dangerous than Mexico at the moment.....

....but the women. :wow: I had a good time there, but granted this was 2007, Chavez was alive and there was SOME stability. I dont know. Colombia, Medillin, seems like a safter bet for around the same prices, and without the food shortages. I think I should visit first, so Im looking into how to make that happen after my trip to NY in May.

I'd steer clear of Venezuela right now, a lot of civil unrest whereas Colombia is getting more and more safe.

From what I've seen, $300-500 a month in Medellin will get you a really nice fully furnished apartment in a upper middle class area, penthouses are around $1500 a month so use that as the barometer. Avoid those American/Aussie/Brit rental agencies, they charge like 3x what their Colombian counterparts ask for :scusthov:

Are you to the point where you're going to put roots in a country?

yep. if i move, itll be my final destination. everyone is telling me to stay clear of venezuela, but god damn. take a look at the cheap housing tho breh. that boy went on his phone AT THE CLUB in the middle of the dance floor to show me how cheap it was, but while he did so, he gave me the :usure: the whole time. I dunno. I almost want to risk it just cause im not a scared tbh (even tho thats the one country where I almost got into some serious shyt). I dunno what to do. I dont need a penthouse, just a 1 bedroom or a 2 and share it with someone else. right now I live real good .....I dont live in that mall complex anymore, I live with a spanish girl and we got a huge 3 bdr. in fact, one of my boys is wasted and sleeping in the guest room right now as we speak LOL. its just nice having a huge apartment for dirt cheap, but Im kinda tired of paagin. you already know my ultimate goal is S.A, its just a matter of finding where. and from the looks of things.......for what I like....its colombia or venezuela. colombian of course being the safer route. I just dont know what to do. im stuck. I think I should visit medillin first and see what the deal is. Ive been to caracas and altho that was back in 2007 when chavez was alive and it wasnt as bad, at least i know peeps there and what drama ill be getting into. colombia im not sure but ive heard nothing but good things from EVERYBODY. its just a tad bit more, but i dunno..............

Since this is likely going to be your new homebase, I think it would be best to check out Colombia and try to think about which country will develop more in the next 10 years. I know Venezuela was probably dope as hell, but since Chavez died there's been a lot of protests and civil unrest, they aren't even releasing crime stats right now but reading up independent sources have the murder rate in Caracas at 122 per 100,000 :merchant: It shouldn't be about being scared or not, you been all over the globe so it's obvious you ain't shook of a local, but you gotta ask if the risk is even worth it when there are similar places with far less crime and much more stable outlooks. Just read the contrasts in these articles -

Colombia
http://www.theguardian.com/cities/2...al-to-model-city-miracle-un-world-urban-forum

Venezuela
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jan/12/violent-crime-makes-venezuela-dangerous

Is it really worth it to take the risk? As far as housing I think you'd be able to find the same quality of life in South America as you have in Asia in regards to housing goes, I've seen tons of places that are very nice and between $200-400 from Colombia to Brazil, to Chile to Argentina etc. , the cost of living down there is higher than Asia but it's a difference of about $100-200 a month for similar apartments. You could also look at Cali and Bogota, I think Bogota is very cheap, but Medellin, Santa Marta and Barranquilla seem to be the cities stepping up the most.
