Well what is pro black? If its something that tells black listeners to be proud of who they are, pay homage to the Black Panthers at the Super Bowl, and raises support against police brutality its pretty pro black to me.

All while wearing a blonde weave huh :jbhmm: Imagery doesn't make one pro-black. It's called putting in actual work and not being afraid to fukk up ya money. That's what those who risked their own lives during bus boycotts and protests did. Talking about loving your "negro nose", your daughter's afro hair, etc. is self-love, but not necessarily pro-black.

Seriously what on earth can possibly be offensive about this song? Like at all? :jbhmm: Besides the imagery of the music video, I don't see how it's "pro-black".
The video was black people's true roots.

To me, that was more pro black than the panther tribute.

You know Jay Z and Beyonce have donated millions to black causes and bailed out many people arrested in the Ferguson riots. Pro-black is not just limited to marching or protesting. Pro-black for me is anything that works towards helping the cause.

Do not underestimate the power of imagery. That power was used for a long time to degrade blacks.

Again, they donated to a not-so worthy cause but that's another topic entirely, and that's nice but you ever notice how all them leaders before us are dead? Because they risked their lives for it. You can't just dip ya toes in the pool, and then be like, I'm pro-black. No, you risk your money, your livelihood, and your life like those who came before us. Because although things is fukked up for us now, it was exponentially worse when our ancestors went through chattel slavery and without their sacrifices we wouldn't even be here.

I don't think it's pro black, that word is thrown around too damn much.

The way white folk reacted to it should tell u that its "pro-black". :lolbron:

The message isn't groundbreaking or anything, but its definantly "in favor of" or geared towards black people and black culture.

White people simply arent used to hearing black music that uplifts and empowers black people. Hell, we arent either to be honest. Most black music they're used to hearing caters to white audiences while at the same time degrades black people. Thats the type of music they like:

Lol that was funny and surprisingly on point.

Love how they had the "your not one of them" part between theblack girl and the "thug" stereo type.

Black woman : I'm black you know.

White girl: I know but your my girrrrl

Black woman: he's black too.

White girl: Well I know he's blaccck

Kind of short sighted. Essentially your are saying that her effort and commitment are not recognized because she isn't fully committed in your mind.

I'm not defending her but if celebrity status alone helps drive someone to help better our people than its valuable. Those freedom fighters weren't fully formed people in the movement from go. Very few are.

It's a simple song about haters, per usual. She just used "pro-black" imagery, and I use that term loosely, which offends white people. Black people breathing offends white people so.

Disagree, commitment means dying for the cause at the end of the day. Many of those freedom riders, of the civil rights era, ended up being beaten so badly they died and they knew that was the risk they were taking. :ld:

To think that they were ready to go that far from the start is short sighted. You leave no room for anyone to reach commitment.
