last album i bought was mobb deep infamy :heh:

ill never buy a cd again, or some stupid digital download when I can get for free.

touring is where the money is at

So what were the last 3 concerts you went to and what year were they?

People with this mindset are killing the entertainment industry. Don't pay for music. Don't go to shows. Complain about album sales. Complain about the quality and complexion of the new music.

This generation is a download generation, it's pro's/cons to that

The Industry just has to adapt either through research/development of new technologies or find other avenue's to profit from the product

subscriptions coming soon

Pretty much. His numbers aren't that great either, compared to what they'd be minus downloading. They just happen to be better than Black rappers.

And yeah it would bring Hip Hop back. All the generic sounding music on the radio is being made for the generic living people who still buy music.

Don't be surprised when 5-10 years from now Internet users start getting bills from their ISP for all the free content they've downloaded. Technically, these companies do have a record of how much theft has been committed and by whom. Too bad it won't justly reward the folks who made great product and suffered from bootlegging in their heyday.

I personally used to download albums for free and if I liked it would go out and pay for it

I still got cds from years ago I haven't even opened because I had the free download file to listen to and just bought the cd to support the artist

Teflon Don, HFM2, Cormega Born N Raised, Beans Broad Street Bully, and a few others I still have in the Package it came in

Only excuse for not supporting music is being broke/having no income

No excuse for bumping an album and not spending the money on it when u got money coming in

But I do agree with whoever said albums should be cheaper, if cds were a max of $10 instead of that being the minimum like it is in most cases, I'm pretty sure people would cop more often

Thing is tho, nowadays few people even had cd players, like I said I only copped cds to support but still haven't opened cds I've had for 3-4 yrs

People used to buy cds and tapes before that because they actually used cd players and tape players to play the music they bought

Nowadays people listen to mp3s and it's hard to get people to buy digital albums when they already have it for free digitally

But I stand by what I said, if u not hurting for money, there's no excuse to not support albums, or at least the ones u actually bump

Artists wouldn't get screwed by 360 deals if people actually supported albums

TYRONE GA!
The lack of sampling is killing that OG hip hop sound (NYC, down south soul sampling, etc. ) and all these fruit loop beatmakers nowadays are a dime a dozen. The quality isn't there nearly as much as it was before on major labels.

Last Hip Hop album I bought was GRODT the day it was released...

I was so disappointed, I decided that I am NEVER buying another album again...

I only buy rare hard to find CDs that I use to chop samples...I will never buy an album just to listen to in the car...

I ain't dumb...

9th Wonder produced some of the best music of the 2000s with nothing more than Fruity Loops, a turntable and some records. Albums cost so much to make because of high priced producers and engineers and other BS.
Yeah, they cost a lot because of mark up BUT, it shouldn't be free or dirt cheap. In order to make a quality album,it takes time and time is money. There is no way good music will come out if people need to support themselves and don't make enough money to live well. If they have a family, it really won't happen. the only people making music will be teenagers, and that demographic is very simple so the music will be just like that. It will be cool at first but if it stays like that there will be no growth which means music will be a joke.

''Album sales have been in steady decline since 2010''

:wtf: more like since 2000
It was really 2003, and that was when music quality really declined. I noticed the more the music declined, the lower the sales went but instead of accepting this and changing their formulas, record companies still try to catch that quick hit and fail most of the time. Then tried to extort artists with the 360 deals. Pride comes before the fall, and the 360 deals was the pride, we are now seeing the fall. Tv is next.

Music companies will still be around but not the way we see them now. They will be much smaller in employees since singles will be the main thing, and it will be more of them since it will be easier to put out music. The artists who have a strong and consistent output of quality music will be the ones who put out albums, that will sell. And the albums will have different songs from their singles, with a concept(if they are smart).

I disagree that music quality fell off in 2003, I'd say more like 2007 and that's when shyt really hit the fan sales-wise

It was already starting in 2006 but 2007 was when it started going downhill

Ye 50 TI and Hov sold that year but other than that, rappers struggled to go gold

And even 50 and Hov didn't sell anything near what they used to

But other than the 2003 comment I agree with this post

Never understood this mentatility

fools look to tv & radio decide whats good music and we know major record labels dont give a shyt about CREATIVITY and TALENT.They never have but these days its at a all time high and it clearly shows.they are more concerned about what a artist look like more than the music.

if you dont understand that then i dont know what else to tell you.
