One crucial part of this that you're missing is that even if there was a mass exodus, where are people going to go to replace their social circles and newsfeeds to get real time information like twitter?
Blue Sky,mastodon,threads etc. do not have the active user communities or influence or ability to reach massive amounts of people like twitter does.... Every attempt to re-create twitter has failed. even the CAC's couldnt keep Parler or Truth Social pumping.... and those smaller communities are much more likely to have normalized the shyt you're trying to avoid.

Musk is going to be responsible for the largest loss of wealth in the history of the modern world simply and largely because of his unchecked hubris.
Tesla as a whole is wildly overvalued as a company, Space X is at risk of losing it's government contract cause he's self admitted drug user..... things like the Hyperloop,Boring Company and the Tesla Semi have all just been techno snake oil.
And that's not even counting all the lawsuits due to discrimination,union busting,stock manipulation,calling people chomos, and not paying bills.
The real question is do people want to let nature take it's course, or fast forward the process?
