yea cause why would a school need new construction

who needs things like new dorms, new classrooms, new library's, new labs to compete with historically white colleges

yes there needs to be a huge push.. but if i'm accept to howard AND duke, why in the holy fukk would i go to a school with less money, worse funding and a degree that's going to be seen as less than? for the betterment of the school while my life is worse off?

HBCU's need this type of funding if they are going to compete with other colleges.. who by the way, receive the same federal funds

Fam :francis:

Cheryl Smith, senior vice president of public policy and government affairs at the United Negro College Fund, also known as UNCF, which advocates for private HBCUs, said in a statement that the organization is “puzzled by this provision and seeking clarification from the White House as to its meaning.”

The title of the article is misleading becaus according to Cheryl's quote she needs clarification on how HBCUs will be impacted because they aren't solely race based

Title is beyond misleading

Nah the article is trying to incite that he forget it but the details aren't clear hence Cheryl Smiths skepticism

No spin needed the title of the article should be broad
she's saying hold the fukk up here... maybe they didn't realize what they were doing... lets wait on their answer to clarify here

the white house was pressed for comment... they gave none

y'all keep waiting tho... you think all those lawyers just wrote that shyt in there for shyts and giggles.. cause they didn't know what they were doing and saying.. then moving it on to other races

but majority white programs mysteriously ain't being listed or singled out huh

You see it now.

And sir, for the record HBCUs aren't race based they're state funded and very diverse in the 2010s

The title is very confusing and misleading

None of you should wait on anything.. live your got damn lives

Trump isn't going to kill/deport/ or do anything to you more than any President (on either side) has done in the past

this is exactly why brehs need to research things and not go to one source... HERE IS THE ACTUAL STATEMENT, WORD FOR WORD, SIGNED BY TRUMP

Statement by President Donald J. Trump on Signing H.R. 244 into Law

but here's the part you need to focus on:

My Administration shall treat provisions that allocate benefits on the basis of race, ethnicity, and gender (e.g., Division B, under the heading "Minority Business Development"; Division C, sections 8016, 8021, 8038, and 8042; Division H, under the headings "Departmental Management Salaries and Expenses," "School Improvement Programs," and "Historically Black College and University Capital Financing Program Account"; Division K, under the heading "Native American Housing Block Grants"; and Division K, section 213) in a manner consistent with the requirement to afford equal protection of the laws under the Due Process Clause of the Constitution's Fifth Amendment.

HE SPECIFICALLY PUT DOWN HBCU'S BY NAME AND POINTED DIRECTLY AT THE LAW THAT EFFECTS THEM

wasn't no general statement.. he said benefits on the basis of race......... then named historically black colleges as one of the programs

You sir are part of the problem than. Doesn't matter how much federal funding and HBCU has if it's gonna always look inferior to a PWI. Some of these schools been around since the 1800s without federal or state aid. They had no problem with building and infrastructure for decades. Why? Becuz we spent our money there. But of course white is right so as soon as we could get accepted there we threw HBCUs in the bushes. Yet wanna complain when they don't have money and expect white daddy to help. The same white daddy who would lock us up in a heart beat we are depending on for education smh. All I see on the coli everyday is a bunch of excuses

"Black people don't have good customer service"

"HBCUs are unprofessional"

"Black barbershops cost too much and I have to wait too long"

"Black restaurants charge too much"

And then we wonder why we aren't getting anywhere. Yes we are he victims of white supremacy but we gotta clean this shyt up ourselves becuz they definitely not gonna do it for us

I'm with Cheryl. Need more clarification because

1.HBCUs aren't race based

and

2. If we're upholding the law in manner
consistent with equal protection laws under the fifth amendment we need clarification on how these provisions will effect funding

Gotta love the title...

Funny how every other president before Don (including the Coli's favorite did the same exact thing)

Some of us do read my brother.. no need for all caps

i guess you miss that white schools get federal funding too tho right? i guess you miss that they are NOT on equal footing so yes, one is better than the other.. i guess you miss that people are going to do what's best for them and going to a college because it's an HBCU and not because it's a prestigious college isn't the move right?

now if some fool out here is going to a white community college over howard or something... ok i see your point.. i specifically said duke vs howard... as if that would be some type of comparison.. duke basketball brings in what howard's whole school brings in.. why wouldn't you want to do what's best for your family and get the best degree and at the best school

getting by with "just good enough" ain't good enough.

so i'll repeat what i said... hbcu's need this extra money to COMPETE with the white schools, so they can bring in more black students, by showing them there is more to their school than "hey we black"

as for the rest.... if you don't have good customer service, i'm not spending my money with you.. white, black, blue or green.... i never said unprofessional, i said not up to a comparison... i don't know ANY black person getting hair done with non blacks.. i also don't know any black person not spending money at a black restaurant (soul food, jamaican, african, etc)

sounds to me like you just want nikkas to accept any old raggedy thing, as long as a nikka is running it

nah you still not reading whatsoever :mjlol:

no other president singled out hbcu's... if so... find them

the statement was every president makes his own provisions in the budget... not every president singles out hbcu's by name

but you and cheryl keep waiting on your reply back... trump will be right with you

meanwhile cheryl out here begging too

but we don't need the money tho... especially the building money

We're agreeing on every president making their own provisions. My statement said every president has done the same thing (quote says that literally)

But according to the article and Cheryl's direct quote HBCUs aren't race based so we'll need more clarification on the provisions.

Nothing is hard to understand about where she stands..

Once again, the title should be changed.

Breh...:snoop:

Look I understand some of you dudes love to be contrarian and skeptical. Thats cool and understandable. Its fun sometimes to try to make other people look ignorant. I get that.

But...again, previous presidents have signed signing declarations on budgets before. This is true. But AGAIN, NONE signed any saying they will withhold funding from HBCUs and even worse, use the logic that giving them money would violate the constitution by favoring an institution based on race. No president has targetted HBCUs in this manner. None.

I understand completely what your saying. But we shouldn't be worried about competing with PWIs. We should be worried about making sure students get the best education possible. Once again these schools thrived for decades without the aid becuz we supported. It's cool if nikkas are gonna look out for self first but than don't complain about issues that affect us as a collective. If we did better business among each other we would minimize many of our issues

We're starting to find common ground now and I have to agree with Cheryl on being skeptical because the administration shouldn't have included HBCUs since they aren't Race based

Sounds like DT isn't clear on how he wants to handle HBCUs

I'm tired of c00ns saying "this is a wake up call."
For everyone who has lived in poor neighborhoods and projects, gone to jail or prison, been chased by police and victimised by brutality, lost friends and loved ones to violence, living in fear of walking outside, getting sick, or getting into a car accident, life has been hell-ish long before he was President.
This isn't a "wake-up call" this is "a bad President doing damage to the general populace."

Please always keep that context when the liberal media attempts to condition you to think the world is ending

Our world has been unique way before DT started his campaign

For the record Cheryl is right... my alma (NC A&T) is diverse now.. on some melting pot shyt

When I go back I see a surplus of Whites & Asians on the yard...

shyt has me like :picard:

But these institutions are only HBCU by name.. these are state funded institutions
