Also Led Zeppelin music still sounds great, whereas a Grandmaster Caz song sounds outdated and corny. That's why that analogy is stupid. Comparing rock from the 70s which had 3 generations to develop some complexity to it , to rap from the late 70s and early 80s which was barely entering the recorded music stage makes no god damn sense. It's more comparible to stuff like Jerry Lewis and Little Richard, which most rock/classic rock fans don't really bump like that, because it's simple and corny

great post. that's why you can't get too nostalgic about early hip hop records. Perspective is important.

So Drake or French Montana should put old rappers that they might not even like, and that their fans definitely don't like, on a track as a sign of respect?

Good point. Though I think it's ironic that French/wack bling rappers will claim "hip hop was always about stuntin, riches and bytches. Look at Sugarhill Gang" when it comes to defending their :trash: music but wont acknowledge said pioneer's existence otherwise.

Modern Hip hop has convenient amnesia.

Eric Nally, who sings the hook in Macklemore's "Downtown," was called out for racism three years ago
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' latest single "Downtown" dropped today, and it's already making waves on radio and YouTube. The song features Foxy Shazam's Eric Nally singing the much-talked-about hook, but what many may not know is that Eric Nally and Foxy Shazam came under fire for their single "I Like It" three years ago. In the song, Eric Nally sings "That's the biggest black ass that I've ever seen, and I like it." Stereogum's Tom Breihan tweeted Chicago Reader's article about Foxy Shazam's racist song earlier today, calling Eric Nally "the budget Darkness guy from the Macklemore video." Listen to Eric Nally's controversial song below:

Kinda insulting to not have these vet rappers actually spit. They have been reduced to background dancers.

Hahaha.

Person 1 - "Hey, homeless man, here, have my pizza, i was going to bring it home to my family but it's okay, enjoy"

Homeless Man - "Thank you sir! How kind of you."

Onlooker : "(((Sucks teeth))) Why he ain't give him a soda? Why no dessert? Why he ain't bring him home with him to have dinner with his family? Oh, so he can't move in for a few months? That's fukked up"

You nigs are crazy, lol. Who else even gave these dudes a look as backup dancers in a video? Salute that whiteboy for paying homage, which he absolutely didn't have to do.

sadly im pretty sure there are some people that fit both categories.

Awful. One of the corniest worst songs I ever heard. I'm ashamed for Melle Mel, Caz and Moe Dee.

yea it was tough to watch.

our legends are desperate out here.
