The is really no difference than tons of people mentioning 60's/70's for Rock/R&B or the romantic era for Classical music or 40's/50's for Blues (electric blues really...)
To someone like Kendrick or J. Cole showing Jay-Z , Pac, Biggie or Nas love is showing their progenitors love, not necessarily Melle mel or Grandmaster Caz or Curtis Blow.
With that said this is dope but the video looks like "Thrift shop part 2 !!!", more humor than anything.
If they're showing respect to Led Zeppelin and Led zeppelin didn't start rock then....If a 20 something rock fan can know and respect Led Zepplin, a 20 something rap fan can know and respect Melle Mel or Caz. They STARTED the shyt!
