funk is actually southern-->then mid west----->.then west coast

the funk that was in the north east was more disco-funk outside of P-funk who were funk rock.

What is the earliest “southern” funk song you got an example of? When I think about it most examples are midwest acts or at most what you could call Midsouth.

ATLANTA
I moved to ATL in the 90s with my parents and the answer is yes. They were influenced especially by the Bay. Too Short was living here and had alot of Bay Area cats repping. When i was in middle school 93-94, cats was listening to Rappin 4tay and Spice One. nikkas in ATL was bumping Oakland music and booty shake from Miami like Jam Pony and Uncle Al. They had old school Impalas and Chevy's on vogues. On the fashion side, nikkas was wearing dikkie Suits, Kangols and chucks. ATL always been a weird mixture of Florida and Oakland up until recently.

Aint no houses in manhattan like that. You can get a house and have a yard in all those places you named. Industrialized probably isnt the right word I was looking for.
Most black folks in NY never lived in Manhattan tho except for Harlem. You can find houses with yards in Queens, BK and the Bronx

Most of those Ohio funk bands were influenced by James because King records (his label) was based in Ohio. Bootsy , Fred Wesley and them were actually in James Brown band.

This is like saying Kobe was influenced by MJ. It's not an earth shattering revelation. It's just a fact of life. Everyone was influenced by the west coast in the 90s.
