But in all seriousness if your not from LA, maybe you don't understand how integrated USC is within the community. They have a multitude of programs aimed at improving the education of minority children within the community. Every week they host field trips for local elementary schools showing them around the school, the majority Hispanic and black, and selling them the idea of going to school. That can of stuff can really impact a young child. Of course not all are going to go to SC, that's not the focus. A couple years ago I met two young black dudes volunteering through a program with USC, who had been involved with SC's youth programs, that were both going to HCBU's, both planning on returning to SC for grad/professional school.

They also provide a safe area for many local kids to come in and play/practice. There's outdoor courts that anyone is open to use, that is patrolled by security. A couple days a week they have an indoor court that is opened for the public. They also let many local programs utilize the Track stadium for practice. at this fakkit for trying to throw shade at Dre.

Aint nobody in here saying USC is a horrible place full of white devils and honkeys. I'm sure its a nice school with ties to the community. What dude was saying is......if blacks (and by blacks, he means the best of us, the blacks with money, power and influence) dont invest in our own institutions, who will? I guess the Indians, Jews and Asians will help us out one day Yall attacking that man's career trajectory like him teaching at Morehouse or Howard would change anything. He dont got no fukking money Does Harvard's $32 Billion Endowment come from teachers and professors or from the wealthy elite?

and I understand that usc does community work. every college across the country that's located in the midst of a hood or ghetto does that. its basically an obligation. you cant just set up shop in these areas and not give back.

and sure, if I was rich, i'd prolly donate money to temple(which prolly has more black people enrolled) or lasalle. but im not gonna donate no dam $35 million. i'd open up my own center if I had money to blow like that, actually. but if I had to choose a university, i'd toss it to del st or somewhere.

what dre and iovine are doing is an investment, to make sure that the industry they are working in is supplied with the talent it needs. it is not a donation, accordingly, it shouldn't be treated as one.

I have no problem with Dre giving the money to USC, with the caveat that a portion of it go towards establishing a top shelf scholarship/recruitment program for black students...to increase diversity and give underrepresented students from the same background as Dre access to that education...and if they develop a graduate program too, have a scholarship that targets undergrads from HBCUs as well
