Why isn't Donovan Mitchell the Rookie of the Year over Ben Simmons?

Simmons rubs a lot of people the wrong way NH. I enjoy watching both of em hoop. It’ll be interesting to see how the media votes on this.
Yea it's been that was since his LSU days but it's one thing not to like him but it's pretty sad when they're trying to paint the picture that he's not very talented

:ohlawd::damn:

Then the team came up short in OT :mjcry:

He just passed Magic for most triple doubles for a rookie and is now behind Oscar Robertson. If he doesn't win ROY it would be straight up robbery
If the Jazz weren't in the 8th seed and in danger of missing the offs and some of Donovan's heroics weren't brought down a notch from losses (like last night) I think the Mitchell/Simmons argument could keep going based on the concept of what is more impressive between a rookie leading the offense of a team to a competitive seed in an insanely talented conference or being an all around godly talent in a wider number of different stat areas.

But with some of these Jazz losses and Simmons continual dominance, I think the writing is on the wall that Simmons deserves ROY

nope....

1. he plays with embiid, who pretty much has a superstar level impact on the game

2. he is not a true rookie. like it or not this will play a factor

donovan is the go-to guy on his team. if you take away embiid simmons wouldnt have nearly the same impact on the team because the defense could focus more on him, and he can't shoot at all.

they will probably finish with about the same record

Mitchell's the go-to on offense, but that's Gobert's team all day :ufdup: Jazz are not a good offensive team they win games becaue they have one of the best defenses in the league.

The "Simmons is not a true rookie" argument is bullshyt, the league calls him a rookie so he's a rookie. That's it, there's no debating that.

Playing with Embiid doesn't detract from the immense two-way value he provides.

Simmons has been more consistent. They are the same age so that Simmons isn't a rookie shyt is old. Mitchell plays with Gobert who is DPOY candidate year after year. You may not like it but Simmons is winning it
